Lovely Vegan Options

Visited purely because we drove past the week before and I looked online to see if they had any vegan options and was impressed with what I saw. Went for tea, lovely welcome off the staff, in fact all the staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. We ordered houmous & tortilla chips and sweetcorn fritters to start, followed by cauliflower steak and even though I am not gluten free asked for a gf version of banana blossom fish and chips. The dishes were nicely presented and good sized portions. All the food was delicious and very satisfying. I have eaten banana blossom fish and chips in several places and this was the best, the batter was light and not oily or greasy. We were too full for dessert even though we were tempted.

Revisited for Valentine's as they had vegan options, the starter of pea & shallot ravioli was delicious. Mains of mushroom and chestnut strudel with gravy was nice although I did not like the heavily spiced parsnip mash and the roast pineapple dessert was way too sweet. Only thing to improve on would be labelling which wines and drinks are vegan friendly. Two options for breakfast was a full vegan garden breakfast or vegan sausage and hash brown sandwich. The garden breakfast was great with vegan spread available although not sure about plant milks as I took my own. Excellent decaf coffee.

Went to the Bluebird for lunch 1st April to try the new vegan options on the menu. Ordered frickles with mayo, linguine with meatballs and aubergine and bean chilli..The food was delicious and service was great too.

Great a small chain pub company offers vegan options so will definitely revisit.

Staff, atmosphere, and selection 5 star

I feel like the food quality just slightly disappointed and so did my partner. Perhaps over conceptualised. I was very excited for the linguini dish but found it to be a little bit pretentious for comfort food. Pasta a little hard and lots of elements more tricky to eat. The worst part was the meat substitute which was tough as rubber quorn pieces would have been better.
I don’t think it would stop me going back to try something else but it would be precociously if we did.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Lovely atmosphere , Staff couldn’t have been any nicer

Cons: Food quality
