Beautiful picturesque pub

Very friendly staff and lovely food, We’re holidaying in the area and stopped off on a very hot day for some lunch, We found a table next to a tree in the beet garden at the rear of the pub, as we wanted shade as we have our furry companions with us, a lovely lady came straight out with a bowl of water for our furrys and made a fuss of them, hubby ordered the vegan burger and chips for us and it wasn’t long before it arrived, it was an impressive bean burger ( homemade I think) and the chips where proper hand cut chips not frozen ones, the meal also came with salad and coleslaw and we had battered onion rings too, everything was really flavoursome and we will definitely eat here again. On a side note: Dogs are allowed inside the pub in the bar area.

Pros: Beautiful location and friendly staff , Vegan options , Dogs welcome

Cons: Not much shade in this heat

Impressive vegan Sunday roast

We visited The Black Bull in May 2021 on a Sunday and enjoyed the vegan nut roast. It came with lovely mash, roasties, veg and gravy and was a very generous portion. They did have a vegan brownie for dessert but we couldn't manage it after the roast. They have quite a lot of vegan options on their standard lunch and dinner menus. Etal is a lovely wee village and we'll definitely try to visit again.

Gorgeous 3 course vegan meal in rural Northumberland!

I had Sunday dinner last week and thoroughly enjoyed every course - no feeling like a second class citizen here!
Beetroot houmous was well seasoned, the nut roast was perfect (only missing out on the Yorkshire pudding!) And the sticky toffee pudding was divine. At least 2 choices for each course, the menus for other days and evening meals look equally good.
Nice beer garden and dog friendly in some parts of pub.

Pros: More than one option in each course, Tasty food, Dog friendly

Cons: No vegan Yorkshire pudding
