Nice lunch

Had a nice Saturday lunch here, they have a few vegan options, I had a vegan Tartiflette with mushrooms and my partner had a vegan leek & mushroom pie, both were tasty

Gone downhill

I ordered the fritters and they were served lukewarm, so asked for them to be reheated. They came back slightly warmer, but still served on a cold plate and soon they were cold again. Also the glasses were dirty. Such a shame as we used to have lovely meals there.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Gone downhill

Belgium bar with vegan options

I had the tartiflette and my wife had the platter (both vegan). Quite a lot of vegan options on the menu. Lovely food!

Cons: None

What you see is what you get

This place is great! It's so chilled and the atmosphere is very 'pubby' but the food is NOT. Their vegan menu is so extensive it's so hard to choose what to have but you know whatever you go for its going to be delicious👌🏽

Caters to all!

The Belgian Monk is one of the best places I've found for catering to all diets very well. They have a seperate vegan section in the menu and can cater to a gluten free diet also. Their vegan menu includes several starters, mains and desserts. Plenty to choose from which is rare to come by. Very large portions. Excellent food which I would highly recommend!

Pros: Several vegan options on the menu, Vegan milkshakes, Caters to all diets

Crowd pleaser

I really enjoy the Belgian Monk and have been there with friends and family. I have found you need to book ahead at all but the quietest of times if you want to eat as it's very often fully-booked, especially at weekends.
There is an extensive vegan menu to choose from and the portions are large and satisfying washed down with one of their beers. I have found little to complain about on my visits here but with such an extensive menu have not sampled all of the dishes mentioned in the other reviews.

Pros: Tasty food, large portions, Cater for a variety of dietary requirements

Cons: Gets busy

Sweet Potato Burger

I’ve been here a few times. Service is always good & staff are friendly. There’s a vegan menu, so lots to choose from. My favourite is the Sweet Potato Burger which comes with fries but I swap to sweet potato fries (can you tell I love sweet potato?)
They offer a range of vegan milkshakes too- YUM!

great beer and service

The beer is vegan and the service is excellent. I had the pie which is good although the gravy is a bit thin. Would have tried starter options but it was a winter pie sort of day. At least they have vegan options to try and you have choices which is more than most places.

Pros: great beer , service

Cons: price , previous reviews

Not great

Vegan options are available but probably best for groups requiring meat and other options. We had the cauliflower which was cooked cauliflower with a spicy sauce which was okay, and the mushroom pie which was disappointing as it was a watery filling with a puff pastry lid. The tartiflette was the biggest disappointment as it was a just a frying pan filled with about a pound of new potatoes and a couple of soggy bits of veg. The dessert options looked good but we decided to cut our losses and call it a day. Beer was great.

Mixed reaction

The belgian décor and beer range was great. Very nice Belgian feel and atmosphere
Very committed enthusiast staff
As a recently signed up vegan I was excited about finding an eating place in my town. The starter of: salt and pepper tofu cubes with a dipping peanut sauce was very good.
The main of beer mushroom and cashew pie was a disappointment. This was like a strong soup with cashews and mushrooms floating under a puff pastry. It didn't meld together and seemed as it it wasn't cooked by a committed vegan / vegetarian chef and felt like a token vegan dish on the menu. (The vegetables were lovely however). The other meal - harissa roasted cauliflower - likewise didn't really meld together but the sauce was hot. We won't be returning for vegan fare but the mussels and steaks looked very good and clearly is their speciality. This is a place to go if you have meat eaters in your group. If you are all veggie or vegan I'd choose one of the other dedicated places in Norwich.

Pros: Great place

Cons: Vegan food a disappointment

Excellent

Something for everyone! All the beers are vegan-friendly and the restaurant offers extensive meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan menus: everything is well-sourced, beautifully-prepared and sizeable! A lovely evening out, I recommend The Belgian Monk whole-heartedly for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

Pros: the beers, menu choice, setting

Always a good night

Just had another birthday meal at TBM and yet again I left feeling full, happy and just a little tipsy!

The vegan menu is just great, so much choice and new dishes each season . On our last visit one member of our group had a pasta dish which I have to admit was on the bland side. I'd also been told that their new tofu burger was also a little uninspiring so beware, the menu isn't perfect but its as close as your gonna get!

Apart from those rogue dishes everything else is top notch, the beer, the service, the ambiance, I just cant fault it.

In fact I like it so much I'm going back again next week, its the best vegan evening eatery in Norfolk hands down!!!

Pros: Great choice, Nice staff, Amazing Belgium beers

Cons: A few bland dishes....., .....but thats being picky......, .....so no cons.

Excellent choices for vegetarians and vegans

I'm vegan and ate at this pub with a vegetarian and two meat eaters and we were all very satisfied with the choices on the menu. The food was delicious, the service was great and the general atmosphere was lovely. Some of the best tofu I've ever had! And the cheesecake is also highly recommended.

Pros: Full vegan menu on request, Good choices for vegans and vegetarians, Friendly and helpful staff

Cons: Unclear which beers and wines are vegan
