Several Vegan and Vegetarian items on menu, I was surprised

I approached The Begging Burro with low expectations for vegan food in the area, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. This restaurant not only listed several vegetarian and vegan items on their menu but also delivered a dining experience worth talking about.

The fresh-made guacamole was a standout. It's rare to find any restaurant that takes the time to make guacamole fresh, and it made a huge difference in flavor and texture. Creamy, zesty, and perfectly seasoned, it was a delightful start to the meal.

Our waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable about the vegan options and even recommended the LA MICHOACANA VEGETARIAN ENCHILADA. Though it was listed as vegetarian, they were able to alter it to fit our vegan needs. The enchilada came smothered in a delicious red sauce that had just the right amount of spice and depth. The flavors melded beautifully, and the dish was both satisfying and flavorful.

While this wasn't the best vegan food I've ever had, for the area, it was impressive. The effort the restaurant put into catering to vegan diners was evident, and the overall experience was positive. The Begging Burro is a solid choice for anyone looking for tasty vegan options locally, and I’m giving it a higher star rating for its commendable effort and delightful offerings.

Pros: Great Atmosphere , Several Vegan / Vegetarian Choices , Knowledgeable wait staff

No vegan options

Walked and in and were told there were no real vegan options. They had chips and salsa. They do have salads but the majority of options in their salads were not vegan. Very disappointing. This is not a vegan friendly town. Thirdays, The Custer wolf is closed. Options became even smaller… like ZERO!

Pros: None

Cons: NO VEGAN OPTIONS. , Don’t bother

Amazing food

Let me tell you, I am PICKY about Mexican food as my husband is from Mexico and I always miss the food there. We are both usually disappointed by Mexican restaurants here in the states, especially in small towns--but this place is AMAZING. We ordered a torta and enchilada with no dairy and were blown away by the homemade, authentic taste. Whoever was cooking is truly a talented chef(s). Other pros: the decor and atmosphere is cute and combines Mexican culture with SD, the waitress was kind, pricing is reasonable, and it was not too crowded there.

Pros: amazing food, friendly staff, good location

Best Enchiladas Yet

After walking all around this vegan unfriendly town I ended up here and was greeted with excellent service. They were fairly busy but nonetheless I was seated and given chips and 2 types of salsa. These vegan enchiladas were much better than the only other ones I’ve had at Las Brisas in Laguna Beach. This place is worth checking out.

Pros: Wonderful atmosphere , Excellent service , Delicious food

Cons: Only 1 option (enchiladas) , Can be very busy and food can be slow
