Love this place! - Edit
Great wholesome home-cooked food plus some vegan junk food options :-). Lovely people and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. A variety of specials available and they do a delicious Sunday roast! Takeaway also available. My favourite place to eat on the Isle of Wight 💚

Vegan Sunday roast - Edit
Currently one of the only two vegan eateries on the island, I had planned to visit The Bay on the Tuesday of my holiday, but about a day before we were due to set off they switched to their winter hours (it was literally still summer, but the summer holidays had ended). We had to rearrange our arrival time so that we'd be able to visit this place. We booked a table for Sunday. Booking is a must or you might get turned away. Luckily there was room for our bags since we had come straight from the ferry. In fact they swapped us to a table where we would have more room. It is Sunday roast only on Sunday, so I was not able to try any of the many exciting things I have seen them listing on their social media lately. Oh well. There were four options for your 'roast' and every table was given a HUGE bowl of vegetables. We also bought a couple of cakes. Service was quite slow but it was very busy. Definitely worth a visit.

Great food and lovely people - Edit
The Bay is a lovely vegan cafe in Sandown on the Isle of Wight serving hearty roasts, huge salad boxes, burgers, hotdogs, loaded fries, specials including mac n cheeze. They have tapas nights and also have special evenings for Valentines, Mothers Day and Christmas. The serve gorgeous coffee and make delicious home made chocolates. The owner and staff are lovely and the atmosphere is nice, welcoming and cozy.

We lucked out on the Sunday and my partner and I had the sausage Wellington roast. Incredible veggies, awesome gravy and huge quantities. My son had the double chik'n burger followed by oreo topped cheesecake, which he pronounced as the best he had ever eaten. Dreamy

Lovely, Cozy, and Special - Edit
We took a long bus ride to get to this cute little place and were not disappointed. The cafe itself is super cute and comfy. We made a reservation and sat in the window in the front but they also have outside seating. Were were served by two super sweet and helpful sisters. I had the ploughman’s and my husband had the “Duck” burger. I loved the pasty that came with my lunch. It was incredible as was the burger!

Came here as it was fully vegan and dog friendly (hard to find these days) and thought the food was great. Had the vegan breakfast and filthy dirty chai. Did intend to come back to try some of their pastries and cakes but unfortunately couldn’t

We went to The Bay on a previous visit to the Isle of Wight and made it a priority to go back next time we were on the island. The food is lovely, with a good variety of options. The friends we went with had a freshly baked pudding, which was divine! You get service with a smile. We’ll definitely go back. Oh! And cocktails!

Amazing roast dinner - Edit
On Easter Sunday they had a reduced menu so a variety of options as a roast dinner. I had the Mediterranean tart and my husband had the wellington, and it came with so many veggies, roast potatoes, stuffing and a delicious mushroom and leek gravy. So tasty. Couldn’t resist taking home a piece of cake for later.

Wow ... choices for Vegans!! - Edit
We have been to The Bay a few times now but my review is really about the Sunday Lunch experience we enjoyed recently. Two course, three courses, what sort of 'roast', what pudding .... yes, there are a lot of choices to be made. And that is the point of my writing this. As a vegan, lets face it .. its usually a pie or an insipid curry and when you get offered choices ...its a bit overwhelming! That is a the true joy of a vegan only eatery ... if they list it, then you can order it. In the end we ordered too much and had to take pudding home but that was our fault. Everything was lovely and the price very reasonable.
Read moreSerious bit now. We've just lost one vegan only place on the island, so we really have to support those that are left. I can tell from The Bay Facebook pages that they are putting a lot of effort in to keeping themselves busy and open. These are tough times for all businesses and households but if you can .... get down and have a meal here.
Pros: Vegan Choices, Lovely food, Lovely owner and staff
TheBayvegan
What a beautiful review Steve thank you so much. Sadly we’ve recently lost two vegan eateries ❤️. Mel & the bay family

We stumbled across this place during a visit to the Isle of Wight. Great array of food options. I had the salad and would definitely recommend. The owner Mel was in on her day off with her parents but still was helping her staff. She introduced me to this app. Very passionate lady. Great place for families.
