Simple food and good vegan beer

They have Pig and Porter beer, and it was in excellent condition. The Pig and Porter is a wonderful local vegan microbrewery. The sausage chips and salad was good, though the salad should have been washed better, it was bitter.

This is my first visit in decades, when it was the Elizabethan Barn.

Lovely pub atmosphere with a few vegan options.

I visited the Barn for a work meeting snd was pleasantly surprised by the range of vegan options. I did ask the waitress to check how the chips were cooked snd she confirmed that they were fried with the squid (always check on fried food folks!) I appreciated her honesty. The burger was safely cooked and I had that with roasted new potatoes (confirmed vegan safe). The top floor of the restaurant is light and airy. The food isn’t overly fancy, but satisfying, so we didn’t need a dessert. Great place for a family meal with options for all.

Pros: 3 vegan options, COVID safe, Honesty in kitchen practices
