Vegan Bakewells available here! - Edit
3* because:
Read more1. At least you can actually purchase a vegan Bakewell here - yay for inclusion!
2. The Bakewell was a bit powdery.
3. The Bakewell is actually bought in from ‘The Gluten Free World’ in Runcorn so not actually made in Bakewell….

Expensive to eat in - Edit
Eat-in tart was expensive, and got served a pretty poor flat white (it was more a large americano with some almond milk that managed to fit in the cup).

Vegan Bakewell Tart - Edit
I was happy that I found a vegan Bakewell tart. It was very tasty but overpriced at £5.50. It was larger than a standard one to be fair

Nice to have the option - Edit
Nice to find somewhere stocking vegan and gluten free options for bakewell tarts. Finding that combination is not super common!
Read moreThey had the iced and non-iced versions when I went in.
I got the tart without the icing and it's quite tasty. Pretty crumbly pastry case, but I think short crust pastry always is!

Decent - Edit
Was happy to see that there were vegan Bakewell tarts in Bakewell, coming in 2 forms - iced and classic.
Read moreThe tarts felt expensive for the size but were delicious!
The jam inside was thick and the icing on top was perfect. The base was very crumbly though and was hard to eat.
When I went back to this shop the day after there were no vegan ones left which was a shame!
Pros: Vegan options, Great jam
Cons: Expensive, Not regularly stocked

Few options but yummy - Edit
There were 4 vegan options in the shop. I chose both bakewell tart options (original and iced) and both were delicious!

Excellent Bakewell tarts - Edit
So I am originally from not far from Bakewell so I’m not new to Bakewell tart and pudding but I disagree with some of the reviews about the tarts feeling not homemade. Yes they may be made externally but they are really excellent with the bonus of being gluten free. We also had a cornflake tart that was baked in house which was a bit of a throwback to school dinners in a good way.

Good vegan, vegetarian and dairy free menu - Edit
A lovely little cafe and bakery with some vegan and vegetarian options. Cafe clearly labels vegan and veggie items - including a vegan full breakfast. Dairy free menu available too which is extensive and allergens clearly labelled.

Vegan options but not home made - Edit
Although the bakewell tart was nice it felt like it was not home made like the rest of the cakes in the bakery. All vegan tarts were packed in plastic, the same size and had ingrediënts on the package.
