No trouble to feed 6 vegans - Edit
We went to Thai Boran for our friend's birthday. As a group of 6 vegans briefly passing through Derby we didn't know what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very friendly and happily advised us on what dishes were suitable for vegans. We all enjoyed the food. The vegetarian platter was my personal favourite part of the meal.

One of my favourite restaurants ever - Edit
Would give this 5 stars if I could the food is delicious and the interior is beautiful. The price is very reasonable for how tasty the food is and there is a great wealth of veggie/vegan options. It’s also not a long walk from the bus station so it’s convenient to get to as well! I always order something different every time I go as there are so many tempting options and I wish I could try the whole menu. Couldn’t recommend more.

Unclean - Edit
I honestly can’t review the food, I went into the restaurant based on the positive reviews here and the place was really dirty, the menu was sticky and it was situated in a really dodgy part of town.

Lovely food - Edit
The staff provided us with an allergens menu so we knew what was vegan. There was plenty of options to choose from, nearly all of the vegetarian appetizers and mains were suitable for vegans as well.

Little gem - Edit
This place is tucked away but a beautiful find. There is an allergens menu that is coded, as well as things listed as vegetarian, so it was very easy to find out which dishes were vegan.

And talk about precious things - Edit
So pleased to have found this place on Happy Cow. Otherwise, it would’ve just been a chain restaurant smash and grab in Derby. Not a typical Thai restaurant in the traditional sense, more of cool and funky outlook with less of the usual formality. Loved the vegetable tempura. Freshly made and piping hot. Steamingly so in fact. The red and and green bean curd curries with jasmine rice were brimming with flavour and quality vegetables. No pak choi in sight. The sign of a good curry. Swimming in delicious sauce. Staff are fully aware of veganism, fish stock is nothing to be worried about here. Singha beer on draught. What more do you want.

Fab decor and tasty Thai food - Edit
Stepping into Thai Boran off the street is a breath of fresh air; the busy, colourful decor creates a bright and playful atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
Read moreThe evening menu has separate sections for vegetarian dishes, offering a good selection of vegetable and beancurd starters, stir-fries and curries. When we went earlier in the day, the smaller lunch menu still provides plenty of choice as all dishes could be made either with meat or with beancurd to make it vegetarian. Unfortunately the menu doesn't specifically label what's vegan, but the descriptions of each dish give a good indication that most would be vegan-friendly, and the staff were helpful in noting our dietary requirements. Our food was beautifully presented, and tasty too. And the lunch deal has a great price tag, as it was £10 for a starter and main, including rice.
Pros: Lovely staff and atmosphere, Plenty of veggie options available
Cons: Serves meat, Vegan dishes not specifically labelled on menu
