One of my favorites in Dayton!

The yellow curry with veggies is absolutely amazing and the portions are huge! They also have ice cream made with coconut milk that my whole (non-vegan) family loves, they go back just for that! They have so so many options including veg sushi and you can get any of the noodle or rice dishes made with just veggies, tofu, or a mock meat. SO many options! I'd give it 5 stars if I could.

Solid.

Thai food with vegan options. Nothing is marked specifically on the menu and YOU NEED TO SPECIFY. In this instance I had the cashu nut stir fry. Amazing! The vegan option uses a different soy sauce.

Delicious food, great ambiance

Thai 9 is one of our go to spots if we are wanting to splurge a bit on Thai. Honestly though, it’s not that much more expensive than other Thai places in the area. Staff is accommodating and knowledgeable about what is or is not vegan. They are also willing to veganize dishes that do not come vegan. We got the veggie sushi, rice and stirfry! Very yummy

Pros: Vegan options , Cool ambiance

Cons: A little pricey

Great food, great service!

Had the Meal Sized Hot and Sour Soup with the Sweet Sour Broth at the server's request as a vegan modification, and it was delicious! Our server was super knowledgeable about what was and wasn't vegan, and everything was so tasty!

Pros: A decent amount of diverse vegan options , Knowledgeable servers, not a long wait for food

Cons: No vegan desserts according to my server 🙁 , (Mango Sticky Rice might be vegan but its seasonal

Non-vegan curries

The "coconut based" curries are not vegan. The other vegan options. Our server recommended a veganized stir fry that was meh at best.

My Favorite Vegan Go-To restaurant in the Area

They can pretty much make any dish vegan with mock duck, mock beef or mock chicken and tofu. They know how to cook it all. I always opt for the extra veggies because they’re always fresh and still a bit crispy.

Best Thai in Dayton

Thai 9 has a great selection of vegan options. I love their vegetable curry with fried tofu.

Their curries are NOT vegan 🙁

Contrary to popular opinion based on ratings on google etc, after living in Dayton for a year and a half I, concluded that the Thai food at Thai 9 is not great, and definitely not the best in Dayton and at least not for vegans. Why? One, the coconut-based curries are not vegan - they contain dairy, specifically they add half and half (seriously, why???). I asked about it on 3 separate occasions - the second time I was hoping the first time I heard it wrong, and the third time I was hoping they had stopped adding dairy. Two, the stir fries are too watery and not like a Thai stir fry at all and the flavour is really more salty than anything. The deep fried tofu is ok (and it is fried separate from any animal products), but the dipping sauce seemed to be a store bought sweet chilli sauce with some crushed peanuts thrown in. Three, they didn’t seem interested in helping me find a vegan option, so I was left feeling that there weren’t very many on the menu. I would not recommend it for vegans.

I thought the half-and-half thing was a rumor. What Thai restaurant uses dairy anyway? Ludicrous. This makes me believe they use fish sauce in their “vegetarian” dishes also.

a little disappointed

I had read the reviews and was really looking forward to trying this place out. Maybe I just made a poor selection. I had the pad see ew (w tofu and no egg). It was nothing to write home about. However, I did try the fried rice (w mock pork and no egg) and that was a little better.

Cons: 3 out of 10 on the spiciness scale = 7 out of 10

delicious Thai food

I loved this place before and after I became a vegan. It's a bit pricey, but servings are large and the atmosphere is nice. you can choose your spice level and everything is good.

Pros: delicious

Cons: expensive
