Simple but delicious

I love this cafe - I have visited two years in a row for lunch and while the vegan options are limited (houmous and olive toast was my lunch choice) the dishes are delicious and fairly priced. They also have oat milk for hot drinks.

Only Bruschetta

There didn't seem to be any vegan options other than tomato bruschetta when I went. No vegan butter for toast, but I had a very nice orange blossom tea.

Not sure if something changed since the last few reviews, but it looks limited to drinks pretty much.

Great service

Not a lot of choice in Robin Hoods Bay so this was a lucky find. Limited menu but the staff were very accommodating and happy to adapt an item on the menu to make it vegan/GF. Dog friendly. Small cafe so get there early to bag a table.

Pros: Dog friendly

Disappointing coffee

It was great to see somewhere that had vegan food options clearly labelled and oat milk, as the only other place we could find with plant based milk (the tearooms) was soya milk. However when I got my coffee the milk had split. I’d already walked quite a way when my husband caught up with me and I realised so I couldn’t take it back. It’s a basic lack of knowing how to deal with plant based milk and not putting cold milk into boiling hot coffee or the opposite. Please warm it first!

Nice toast!

This visit was during Covid so was takeaway only. This is just up the road from the Bay Hotel so we ordered our food and sat outside the pub with a pint after a long walk from Whitby. Their "lunch on toast" did not disappoint. Doorstep toast and huge toppings. We ordered the two vegan options to share: tomato, onion and balsamic, and then the hummus and olive. Both delicious and very substantial!

Pros: Clearly labelled, huge portions, delicious.

Cons: Could have done with a fork as it was huge!
