A large market and vegetarian food restaurant, previously located opposite Khon Kaen museum and moved here in Apr 2015. Plenty of seating. Note that food selection lessens after 12pm and is generally finished by 2:30pm. Sample items might be pumpkin soup, potato soup, pineapple and tomato soup, mixed broccoli, spinach soup, and raw vegetables. Uses palm oil. Market sells natural products including nutritional supplements, dry and frozen vegetarian food, herbal teas, body care products, and books. Open Mon-Sun 6:00am-2:00pm. Shop stays open until 7pm.

Amazing shop

While the food in the restaurant is decent, it’s just the usual buffet so a bit hit-and-miss and stops serving at 2pm, so you need to be here by about 12:30pm to ensure they have some decent stuff left.

The attached shop on the other hand is open until 6pm and is one of the best shops for vegan food I’ve seen anywhere. It’s a small supermarket. Be wary that it’s not quite vegan, despite being called ‘Real Vegan.’ It sells many products containing honey, and I found one that quite subtly contained milk, so perhaps there in error:

Even so, a great source of vegan ingredients like nuts, seeds, teas, snacks etc. Not something I expected to find in Khon Kaen.

Delicious!! Best food in town.

ON VACATION DEC 28-JAN 3. They take one week off a year--well deserved. Otherwise, wonderful food and great variety! I've eaten literally hundreds of meals from them, every one delicious.

canteen style restaurant with many options

The quality of food is not better than other vegetarian restaurants around, but the sheer number of choices make this place absolutely worth a visit. The health food store has many interesting things too, although the language barrier does sometimes make it hard to know which product are vegan.

Fresh Local Food

This place is great.

It's canteen style; you exchange your money for vouchers anything you don't spend you get back into money at the end.

Loads of dishes to choose from.

Free wifi and drinking water

Great health food store too

Pros: authentic vegan food, free wifi, free water

Great Choices, Lacklustre Service

Marginally more expensive than other veg restaurants in the area, it's almost worth it for the experience: as well as the large array of choices, there's a table full of greens and sauces for customers to tailor their own dishes. Ice creams and ice blocks, many of which are vegan, are available from the vegetarian minimart (open till 7pm) and range from 18 to 59 THB. Tawanthong also offers complimentary cold and hot water and free wifi. The main issue with this establishment is the staff's hostile attitude towards foreigners and subsequently poor service.

Pros: Large range of dishes, Help-yourself greens, Vegan icecreams, extensive minimart

Cons: Hostile service to foreigners, Comparatively small servings, Most food finished by lunchtime

Amazing!

This is one of the best vegan Thai style restaurants that I have found so far in Thailand. The food is all Thai of course but the selection is simply fantastic. They have so much! All the classic dishes and hot snacks as well as fresh raw salads and you can even buy your organic produce there. You can also get Thai sweet desserts as well as vegan ice-cream! They also have a huge shop with natural products and also dried foods, canned foods etc. There is a large eating area or you can take the food away. I love it!
For a Thai style restaurant, you'll have a hard time finding anywhere else that will measure up to this place!
Khon Kaen doesn't have much for tourists... but it's almost worth visiting just for this place!

Excellent food and grocery

Tasty food, choose from around 12 precooked dishes; they also had other prepared items. Rice and 2 options for 35 baht, or a single dish for 30.

Also vegan ice creams are available in the freezer outside the shop! (Not every flavor is vegan but a few are.)

Under Renovation Until May 19th 2015

I drove there to try out the restaurant but the owner (I believe) told me that they would reopen on May 19th... just posting this to save people the trouble of going there in the meantime.

exact location

This highly recommended restaurant is located approx 50m from the T- junction Langsoon Rachagarn road/ Kasikorn Thungsang road. Huge sign: vegetarian restaurant, can't be missed. From 16.00 hrs all fresh made food is with 50% discount to take away.

Pros: lot of choice, menu changes every day, airy

Cons: roof should be insulated against heat

Fantastic inside place!

Nice selection of herbal product plus very busy veg restaurant. Its opposite Kohn Kaen NATIONAL museaum, please note there is also a Kohn Kaen city museum.
Its just behind the shops on the road side but well sign posted.
You buy vouchers, suggest 100 baht will be more than enough for 2 people any way you can refund the ones you have not spend.

Great selection of veggie food and nice drinks, herbal store ( got my sleeping aid here ;)

Highly recommended, no tourist were spoted during my 2 visits....

Pros: Food quality, herbal products, cheap

Great food and plenty of choice

We enjoyed our lunch here. There are many dishes to choose from and the prices are low. Get there early cos it's popular and they sell out.

Pros: Great choice , Cheap

Cons: None
