Server was rude! I asked if they had tofu and he looked at me like I was stupid and said NO we are a Indian restaurant (I have had tofu at other Indian restaurants before) . I then said okay I was just looking for something to add to my vegan dish. He then started ready the Began dishes to me like I was a child and could not read. I stopped him and said I can read these I was just asking if you had tofu. I then asked if they had vegan bread again he looked at me like I was stupid and said I don't know. Needless to say I got up and walked out. I am not going to be talked/treated like a child. He was so rude! I will not be going back!!!
We are in Charleston on a family vacation, and found all other restaurants listed in HappyCow to be closed on Sunday night. The service here was very attentive, and as soon as we asked about whether dairy was in various sauces, the host/waitor immediately picked up that we are vegans - and rattled off all the dishes we could have. It was comforting to know that he knew what we could eat & respected it.
The food was delicious and there were well over a dozen of vegan options for appetizers, entrees, and breads.
Also, there are discount coupons on the restaurant website: http://tasteofindiacharleston.com
Big thumbs-up -- we will defintiely return during this vacation!

Knowledgeable about vegan options - Edit
Staff was helpful in identifying vegan options (the garlic naan is not vegan, alas).
