Everything is Vegan! - Edit
We don’t have many totally vegan options in Northern New England. I love it when I find one! I have only been once but the food was quite good. I had a veggie pot pie with salad and bread and butter

Tasty options and dog friendly - Edit
We were staying at the Bear Mountain Inn in the early season before much is open in the area, especially on a Tuesday. This little shop has a little bit of everything. We got salad and lasagna. Still hungry, we got a homemade veggie burger which was flavorful. We were happy to find a place we could sit outside with the pup.

Awkward - Edit
CDC standards were not followed in the slightest, there wasn’t a mask in sight at this place. My partner and I walked in with our masks on and the employees looked at us as if we walked into an establishment like that pre-covid.
Read moreThe woman that was working stared at us silently while we looked at the menu and it was really awkward. The lack of customer service made us feel like we intruded into their home and asked for food.
The food was okay, I got the spinach lasagna and my partner got the hummus wrap. Apart from the uncomfortable environment the food wasn’t bad, but it was underwhelming for sure after reading all of the positive reviews on here. It was alright for a little lunch date but we do not have any interest in coming back.

Deeeeelicious! love love love - Edit
My fam and I have been coming up to this area of Maine for the better part of two decades but this was the first year I've been fully vegan. I tried to stop by a few times previously but invariably would forget/miss their open hours (usually when I was searching for dinner). I always drove by this adorable little place and wondered how it could survive in meat&potatoes&lobster country but now I wonder no more. The food is AMAZING (and very reasonably priced!). My sister and I called ahead a to-go/pickup order so we could nosh on our roadtrip back home. Everything was made from scratch and ready in ~15 minutes. We split the veggie quesadilla, the chick-in salad sandwich, and the spinach lasagna (plus two giant cookies added via impulse purchase on-site). Our biggest regret was not ordering more food (they also had a chickpea alfredo special that sounded phenomenal, why oh why did I not order that too!).
Read moreTL;DR I could not stop raving about the chick-in sandwich pretty much the whole way home (~10 hours). Part of my quesadilla ended up in my lap (the veggies had a delicious sauce but it was not sticky like melty cheese, so things fell out when I tried to eat my piece like pizza - folding it up instead helped increase the food-to-mouth ratio significantly). Oh and I demolished the lasagna before I could take a picture for the review. I cannot wait to go back for more!
Logistics: Online ordering & call-ahead is available. They have a small parking lot and there's ample street parking. A few dine-in tables inside and they appeared to have every other table blocked off (pandemic precautions), plus a couple of outside tables.
Grocery: One-stop shopping! I browsed the shelves quickly, I saw things like canned tomatoes, beans, homemade nut butters, vegan graham crackers(!), sauces, and some beauty items. There was also a fridge/freezer section with some coconut water and (what I think were) brand-name juices/beverages.
One tiny note for other heathens like me: there is a lot of religious material provided for your reading pleasure throughout the cafe. I should have gotten it right from the name (makes so much sense now!) but instead I had an "aha!" moment while waiting for my order. I only mention it because I would have worn a different shirt had I known ahead of time (out of respect for the owners/chefs).
UPDATE 7/28: I went back and I had the chickpea alfredo and yes I ate it before remembering to take a picture. It was INCREDIBLE. Loyal customer forever!
Pros: Delicious, Reasonably priced, Fast & friendly service

Found this spot through HappyCow while traveling, definitely worth the stop! Home style meals in a warm atmosphere, the lentil loaf was great! Even a small wall with canned and packaged vegan goods for sale! Will surely stop by next time I pass through!

This Café Glows with their Love of Good Food - Edit
Amazingly good homemade vegan mom 'n' pop food! The bread is whole grain, but light in texture. Their Chik 'n Salad (garbanzo-based?) sandwich always has really fresh romaine, onion, and tomatoes - with their own vegan mayo. I've had their waffles and no one would ever imagine they were a vegan adaptation. Their soups are always excellent, too. I had a take out today, which reminded me that I never reviewed them before.

Worth going out of your way for - Edit
I love that this place exists. Surprisingly and delightfully a little busy when I went. Seems like a lot of locals (construction workers, neighbors, etc). They offer a lot of different sandwiches, some pastries and then some specials. I had the chickpea alfredo which came with buttered bread and a side salad. It was kind of bland at first but throw some salt on it and it was pretty good. The parking was a little difficult as both sides of the building were full and the street was a little busy so it was hard to find street parking. They also sell a couple different vegan items in the store as well and have limited seating. Overall cute little cafe and will definitely be returning to try a sandwich next!

Excellent and wholesome - Edit
I took a group of ten friends several of whom are very not vegan here and all were satisfied to say the least. I had the veggie burger which was crunchy and served on real bread instead of a bun. The tofu scramble looked perfect. The owner uses a homemade sauce instead of butter substitute for toast which I loved.

Delicious Gem! - Edit
We happened to drive by this place on our way camping and couldn't be happier that we did! Great homemade vegan food and you can tell the owners really care. The homemade chick'n salad sandwich on homemade wheat bread is a must get! We liked everything so much we went back 2 days in a row. The local vegans and non vegans loved the food alike! Definitely worth the trip!

A Lunch to Rejuvenate - Edit
This place is a little Jewel in Maine and is totally worth a scenic drive to get there.
Read moreMy wife had the Chick-In Salad sandwich which was on fresh whole wheat bread and was flavorful, moist, and delicious. We shared a bowl of Chili which wasn't too spicy but was chock full of goodness and the burrito I got was huge and came with a tasty sweet salsa.
Not to be outdone is the service. Michael is warm and welcoming and gives some of the best customer service you could ask for. He told us all about his story and tips for healthy living.
and lastly,... the price can;t be beat, 2 mains and a soup came to only about 16 dollars!
While I really wish this place was open for dinners too, this visit wasn't our first and it won't be our last, because every time we go our bodies (and our taste buds) thank us for it.
Pros: Healthy hearty food, Price, Super warm/welcoming Customer service

A delightful surprise - Edit
Unexpectedly driving into the lakes of Maine we had a delightful surprise when we found this restaurant. There was a small but appetising menu, with good and friendly service. Many local people patronised this restaurant in a small out of the way town.

underwhelmed - Edit
While my companions' food was edible (one quesadilla, one lentil wrap), noone wanted to eat there again. Tofu scramble was inoffensive, but the salad and dressing were very bland. whatever was spread on the bread was just nasty. Not spoiled, just weird. I'm a longtime vegan, thought I'd seen it all, but couldn't finish the plate due to the overall off taste of everything. The place is filled with religious tracts, which I could live without, very cultish.

excellent and friendly restaurant - Edit
We (a family of 5) ate at Eden while on vacation in Maine. It is one of the very few restaurants in the region. The owners are very friendly and helpful- they even made something for one of our children which was not on the menu (creamed baked potato). The soups, bread casserole and salads were very good. The menu changes every day but almost any option will be a success. We considered the prices quite reasonable - all 5 of us had a substantial lunch for $50. The only drawback are the limited hours so you have gear your travel plans to their hours.

The Best Little Restaurant in Maine - Edit
My boyfriend and I went out of our way to visit this little cafe in Norway, Maine. We weren't really sure what to expect since there were no reviews online, but I had a good feeling about it. My instincts were correct - Taste of Eden is fabulous! Seriously one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. This is accomplished through the following: friendly service from the two owners themselves, healthy food options that taste like the best comfort food, very low prices, and good portions. I wish we had been staying in the area and could have gone back. Next time we're in Maine, we'll definitely return. Don't miss it if you're in the area...they make their own bread and cheez sauce that are divine!
Read morePros: delicious food, very low prices for what you get, healthy
Cons: a bit out of the way for us, small - not suited for larger groups
