Best Thai in Northern MI - Edit
I always stop here when in the area or going to the UP. Everything I’ve had is delicious: pad thai, peanut pad thai (a bit too spicy for me but still great), and some of their curries. Their drunken noodles are amazing too. Specify vegan so that they don’t use fish sauce. I had their taro bubble tea and it really hit the spot! I wasn’t expecting to have bubble tea that good in northern Michigan.

Very Tasty Vegan Options 😋 - Edit
I had the drunken noodle (my personal favorite) and the yellow curry, both were amazing!! They also have bubble tea — the taro with almond milk was delicious! (Make sure to say you’re vegan when ordering food and they can customize almost anything)

Several Options - Edit
Several options but not a lot of flavor, at least in what we got, which were the crazy noodles.

Solid vegan option - Edit
Only open for takeaway right now, which worked for us. The staff was very nice and we only had to wait 10 minutes for our food.
Read moreHad the crazy noodles with tofu, nice spice in the sauce, probably could have used a little more savory seasoning (like soy sauce) and some lemon/lime for an extra kick.
Very solid option though, especially for a place up north where there are almost no other plantbased alternatives.

Super Tasty - Edit
Four of us vegans stopped on our way south after the Mackinaw Bridge, and it was worth it! The menu was in the front window and you order at a window. You pick a dish and a protein, including tofu, and the level of spiciness.
Read moreWe each had a spring roll, which were crispy and yummy.
One son and I got Crazy Noodles with a Thai red curry and coconut milk sauce. The vegetables were crisp tender, the noodles cooked perfectly, and the mild (slightly spicy) sauce was delicious. The Tofu was crispy on the outside and nicely chewy.
My husband got Pad Park Garlic, which was full of veggies and tasted wonderful, served with rice.
My other son got the fried rice with no egg, and it was seasoned very nicely, soy-sauce-salty and flavorful.
Because it was only carry out, we ate in our RV parked in the provided RV spots just down the block.

Egg In Fried Rice - Edit
I try to eat vegan for the most part and Taste of Asia was like the only place open that had decent reviews on here for vegan options. I ordered fried rice and there wasn’t an available detailed description of the ingredients. Honestly it was my fault, I should’ve known they would put egg in the Tofu fried rice, egg is in almost all fried rice! The few bites I had before realizing I was eating eggs tasted pretty good.

Only vegan options for miles! - Edit
We stop at Taste of Asia every time we cross the Mackinaw Bridge. It is literally the only restaurant for many, many miles that has anything approaching vegan. We were so happy to discover this gem a few years ago.
Read moreThe owner knows vegan, it is listed on the front of the menu, and he makes sure everything is vegan when you specify vegan. The food is good (this is a very small town) especially considering the location. Front-man John (owner?) is super friendly and helpful.
Pros: Lots of vegan choices. Tofu or Veggies., Noodle and curry dishes vegan.
Cons: Pro tip: call your order in ahead of time., Long wait if they are busy (often).

Vegan Thai - Edit
We got take-out from here and enjoyed our food very much. Their Thai-style section in particular was very good. We got the Green Curry and the Pad Park Garlic and they were both delicious (make sure to specify vegan!). The restaurant was a little small with only a couple tables, but that wasn't really an issue since we got take-out. Also, they have brown rice for no extra charge, which was a pleasant surprise!

Not a Vegan Option :) - Edit
I found his place on happy cow. Honestly, the experience wasn't bad. It wasn't my favorite pad Thai ever because it's more on the sweeter side, but the chef hand makes everything so, they are definitely vegan conscious when they prepare your food. I would come back again to try another dish

Vegan Friendly - Edit
In a city with limited vegan options, we were happy to find Taste of Asia! They had a very friendly staff who was knowledgeable about their menu and familiar with veganism and which items were, in fact, vegan. They were open late, and my hubby and I were so happy, since we had been eating PBJ for 2 days straight. We happily ordered take-out and were not disappointed in the delicious food we received. It was very flavorful and not over or under-cooked. Just cooked to perfection. We will be visiting next time we are in Mackinaw!
