No, co-reviewers, this is not a 5-star place! - Edit
The Thai dish I got (Tom Kah soup) was ok, same as everywhere else. Sweet potato fries underwhelming, summer rolls (and sauce) too. Staff depressed and uncommunicative. No smiles. Run-down place covered in dust with no flair and seemingly no care or love put into it. If you're on a tight budget, maybe you can find your luck here. Else, avoid.
Read moreBtw, @happycow, consider re-evaluating your "minimum 2 stars for all-vegan places" rule. It skews ratings massively, and, anyway, the issue on the web isn't that ratings aren't good enough. It is that even bad places nowadays all have excellent ratings. Be grateful for negative reviews and ALWAYS allow one-star reviews!

Disappointed - Edit
We ordered 2 vegan chicken burgers (170 baths).
Read moreFood took 20 minutes to come even if we were the only customers in the restaurant.
Bread is big but not great.
Burger itself is very dry, I had to put some ketchup in there... I would never dare to serve a dry burger like this.
The only thing I enjoyed was the "chicken" steak made from Seitan I guess. This one impressed me, and they can do something great with it.
Also the French fries were good for Thailand but portion is way too small.
Kao Soi sold for 130 baths(!)
I didn't eat it because it costs 35 baths northern Thailand. I know phangan is pricey but it's disrespectful to almost quadruple the price.

Taste from Heaven-- too right! - Edit
Ate here twice and found it to be incredible.
The lady who started this, (what I believe to be a chain of three restaurants in Thailand), has done an amazing job.
Apart from the fact it serves dairy, as it’s a vegetarian as well as a vegan restaurant, I really can’t say enough positive things about it. Ordered a variety of dishes during my two visits and it was all delicious. I wish I’d had longer on the island to go a few more times and try other items from the vast menu.
From my two visits I can recommend:
Mushrooms satay as a starter was amazing. I praised the chef and she explained it’s quite a long process to make them, with the marinating process using turmeric and other spices.
The curries were phenomenal. I had the red and green and a tom yam soup. All so flavoursome.
I was always too full from my main course to have a dessert, however there were some tasty looking vegan options available.
Pros: Large amount of vegan options
Cons: Sells eggs, dairy etc

Disappointing meals, good junk food - Edit
Go for the fried junk food. We tried money bags and it was nice and crispy. Unfortunately we also had Tom yum soup and glass noodle salad. The soup was almost without any taste, really dull. The salad was awkward - basically huge pile of spicy noodles soaked in some sauce and lot of celery. There was soy meat inside with no taste.

Cons: Don't try other meals, not good

CRISPY VEGAN CHICKEN SALAD AND SPICY THAI = BLISS - Edit
Tried crispy vegan chicken salad (120B) and plate called spicy thai (100B). OMG!! Soooooo good. Both of them something I haven’t seen anywhere else. Have to say that those were in my top 5 favourites from everything i’ve eaten in the whole of Thailand! Massive menu, fresh nicely prepared veggies, yummy herbs, lots of flavour, wide variety of vegan proteins (tofu, duck, chicken, soy strips, beans, hummus...) and reasonable prices. BEST!!

Good for Cheap Food - Edit
Probably the best thing about Taste From Heaven is that just like the branch in Chiang Mai, food is cheap for generous portions. This is particularly useful in Koh Phangan which is generally expensive.
Read moreWe tried the veggie burger and the patty was good but the bread was so chewy that it was hard to cut or tear apart. So it tasted good but this made it a little hard to eat. The french fries were also a bit lame.
A lot of the side dishes we wanted were sold out but we did go quite late in the evening.
The panang curry we had was good and decent sized.
Just like the branch in Chiang Mai, they have vegan options clearly marked here but we didn't see the brownie they are so famous for nor did they have vegan cheese or mayo.
It's good if you want some cheap vegan food although there are plenty of better places around.
Pros: Cheap, Most dishes are vegan or can be vegan, Large menu
Cons: Choices run out, Odd bread

Not hugely impressed - Edit
Probably wouldn’t advise choosing Thai options here as there are so many places where you can get better quality vegan Thai food nearby. It was exciting to see vegan English breakfast though, and simple burgers and hotdogs etc, good hangover food. Not much atmosphere but simple and reasonably good value for money.
Read morePros: Wide range of options, Both Thai food and western junk food, Lots of mock meat options, incl. vegan bacon

Red Curry with "Duck" 😍 - Edit
This restaurant probably isn't the healthiest on the island (uses a lot of mock meats) but it's certainly one of the most delicious and I'd even go so far as to say my favorite because of the red curry with fake duck meat!
Read moreI had to check a few times to make sure I was eating a vegan dish but I find it really interesting to try dishes that mimic favorites and I think they're very important for people transitioning or wanting to limit animal products!

Enjoy the tasty Thai food!
Pros: Many vegan options , No animal products, Thai curries

No chilli and no smiles - Edit
We visited twice and asked for spicy food both times but it never happened. The kao soy was good the first time but not the same the second and the mushroom satay was oily and had no flavour. A smile from the staff member would have been nice but obviously this was never going to happen. We heard good things about this place and were disappointed.

Heavenly tasty curries😉 - Edit
The curries here are soooo tasty and delicious! Really flavorful and creamy.BIG favorites and MUST try is their Kao Soy, the vegan red duck curry, pumpkin curry, green curry served in a coconut, and pineapple fried rice. Some other things on meny are too oily and deep fried for my taste, - however , the curries are just HEAVEN ❤️❤️❤️ 👍 Super sweet and lovely owner and staff too.

Uncountable great sounding options from Western to Thai dishes, all with pictures.

Vegan dishes are easily spottet on menue and others can be made Vegan on request.

Varied vegan options - Edit
Really big and varied menu with vegan options clearly marked. There’s western and Thai options so something for everyone. I’d recommend the stir fried basil. I found it a little pricey but still cheap compared to some of the other veggie places in the area, especially considering the portion size! So much choice including lots of Thai classics that don’t usually have a vegan option so I’m looking forward to going back to try more of the menu 😊
Read moreUpdate: went back and had the Papaya salad and Thai iced tea - both delicious! Nicest Thai iced tea I’ve ever had 😍

Awesome vegan options - Edit
Quickly became a firm favorite. A lot of tasty choices , including vegan "meats". Got hooked on the "V Duck" curry. Kao soy with tofu, add a portion of vChicken. Yummm. What's so nice is the fusion / blending of vegan western comfort foods with the flavorburst of Thai cuisine. Choose your level of tasty spiciness.

Taste From Heaven - Edit
The best food I ate on the island and one of the best vegan dish I ever had. I took the yellow curry served in a coconut with vegan "chicken" strips, the curry was amazing, (so good that I had to finish even after I already felt completely stuffed). The chicken felt a lil bit dry but if you put it in your curry soup it make a nice combination. The place itself is decorated with lots of vegan quotes and the menu is big. You should definitely check it out.

Really disappointing - Edit
We went to Vegan Heaven in Chiang Mai twice and really enjoyed it, apparently it’s the same owners and almost identical menu.
Read moreBut this branch we found so underwhelming😒My boyfriend had the chick’n burger with fries, the pattie was decent but it wasn’t crumbed and crispy like last time (or the photo on the menu), and the fries were soggy and undercooked.
I had the glass noodle salad which was also soggy and flavourless, all I could taste was the raw onion and celery. The TVP wasn’t marinated or seasoned at all, it was just plain soy curls. I hate leaving food on my plate but I couldn’t finish the salad, it was not nice at all.
I don’t know if it was just our choice of meal or a bad night, but with so many options in the area I wouldn’t bother going back.
Pros: nice staff, chill restaurant with low tables
Cons: our meal choices were not tasty at all

Good food! - Edit
They serve nice and not too expensive Thailand food, with meat substitute itens like tofu, seitan and gluten prepared very tasty. I had a nice lunch here and was able to try a traditional desert made with cooked pumpkin in a warm coconut milk, which I have to be honest, was to strange for my taste. Gladly I am going from Koh Phangan to Chiang Mai and I will be able to eat there at their original location.
