Fast and fulfilling - Edit
I was short on time before my next appointment, but I wanted to support Chef Raul. So I thought fast while on my walk over and remembered that I could place an order ahead of time on Clover for pickup. My torta de pollo ($9) was ready in under 10 minutes, and I picked it up from the counter just west of the main entrance to the Emporium, which wasn't open yet since I arrived between 4pm and 5pm. (You can ring the bell for service at the counter to order in person, too.) I thoroughly enjoyed the torta at one of the tables just outside of the Emporium. It was seasoned beautifully. Sadly, the conchas weren't available, but I hope to try one next time!

Everything is amazing! - Edit
I've eaten here twice and man this place checks all the boxes for great Mexican food and being vegan. I've had their carne asada (so good), conchas, and nachos. Whoever the head chef is they're a genius, the carne is perfectly seasoned, the cheese sauce is smoky and spicy, and the portions are huge! Check this place out if you're in the mood to splurge and fill up on nachos
Read morePros: Well seasoned, Lots of options, Amazing non meat style protein (mushrooms etc)
Cons: A little pricey

Overpriced, elitist operation - Edit
This is a kitchen with an online ordering system. There is no way to order without a smart phone or pay cash. No way to interact with a human being to ask questions about allergies/ingredients. And a burrito will set you back $20+ while a concha is $6.
Read moreIf you're part of the laptop class, you'll probably enjoy this place… If you believe in a world filled with human interactions, a world where you can survive without a smartphone and don't need to give up your privacy just to order a freaking taco, you might try somewhere else.
By the way, I tried giving this place 1 star, but HappyCow wouldn't allow me to, because vegan spots get 2 stars minimum apparently. So there is no way to get unbiased ratings based on the opinions of the people on here, even though that's exactly what a rating system is supposed to be for. Just another tech company that thinks it knows better than you and is justified in manipulating your data to fit their agenda… 🤮

Oh brother so you can't go in and order so your giving it two stars? You didn't even mention the food. That doesn't seem very fair to the restaurant. I think it's a ghost kitchen, which is really the best way for a small restaurant to get started when buildings are so expensive to rent in the bay.

All your reviews are one star. You are very negative person. Stop bitching about the "elitist" pop up restaurant by a Mexican immigrant trying to make a living in the exceedingly expensive bay area.

If it matters, I’m almost certain there’s a walk up option now. Only accepting electronic payment seems more like a good and safety thing rather than an elitist thing. Hope you actually try the food at some point so you can realize how wrong you are.

@dexy - Personal attacks, condescension, and virtue signaling… All in one comment. You win! 👍 My reviews are not all one star. Maybe stop lying before you try bossing around people you don't know by telling them to stop doing things you don't like? I'm an immigrant myself btw… Will I get bonus points from you for that?
Read more@tonysnark - Seeing electronic payments as a "safety thing" is the epitome of the entitled laptop class thinking I was talking about. The taste of the food has nothing to do with my original comment. Your reaction only demonstrates how right I am.

You seem really combative and hyper critical of everyone but yourself.
Read moreThe owner is a first gen Mexican who imo caters of the Latinx community that grew up with these flavors. You’re biases of what you normally see as vegan (privileged, upper class, white) and assuming that this establishment gives a shit about that specific clientele over another, or that his decisions on running his business are based on that are moronic.
You likely don’t hold the same critiques for a Michelin star eatery with some bland European cuisine, but because it’s not you’re in your feelings about prices and forms of payment. You’re exactly the type of person the owner probably doesn’t want eating at his establishment to begin with so have fun missing out.

Smoky, flavorful pollo - Edit
The “pollo” here is pretty special. It’s a shredded soy protein with a seasoned, smoky flavor. I’m not a big fan of vegan “meats” but I really enjoyed the pollo plate. Their “refried” beans are also delicious and remind me of my Mom’s frijoles. They are slow cooked and mashed pinto beans with no added oil, according to the kind restaurant staffer we ordered from.
Read morePros: A variety of creative menu items , The vegan “pollo” is among the best I’ve ever had, Friendly customer service
Cons: Indoor dining not open until 5p, Oily tortillas , Conchas not available when I went

Big ass burritos - Edit
My boyfriend and I have been here twice and have been a fan of Raul's food since he was grilling on the streets
Read moreI really like the size of the burrito. My only complaints are the meats are hard to distinguish between each other. My boyfriend's carne asada and my chicharon burritos could not be told apart. Also my boyfriend ordered cheese in his burrito and could barely taste it.
I tried the pollo next, it has a good grilled taste. Everything tasted fresh and the portions are great!

The best! - Edit
I love this place so much that I eat here every week! Burritos are huge and almost impossible to eat in one sitting. They’re also filled with some of the most flavorful vegan meats I’ve ever had. Texture is on point! I definitely recommend the carne asada burrito or tacos. Or the potato tacos if you’re not into vegan meats.

I tried the taco trio with rice and beans. The carne asada and carnitas were outstanding. Crispy, Smokey, flavorful. Cauliflower was great too but come for the meats.

Best Bay Area Mexican food - Edit
This is the best Mexican food I've ever had. Their burritos are also the best Burritos I've ever had, and the largest. Definitely worth every penny! I highly recommend the Carne Asada Burrito, the vegan meats here are unlike anywhere else. The flavors are immaculate, great rice, and a perfect tortilla.

all vegan & all delicious. “Meats” made in-house, no seitan or tofu (TVP based). get the carne asada & carnitas and you won’t believe they’re even vegan. chef Raúl Medina is a genius, cooking it all up in a homemade vegan lard?! 🤯😍 so it tastes like the real deal

Delicious! - Edit
Very tasty and fresh tacos and burritos. Took some time to prepare. Location is in a minimart with nowhere to sit with a male urban clientele. The cauliflower and the carne en chili rojo were my favorites. Imho more veggies would be welcome. Currently just tortilla with “meat”, salsa, a little chopped onion, and a slice of radish. Some cabbage might be nice. Not cheap. Not too oily.

Taqueria La Veganza 🌱🌮🌱🌮🌱 - Edit
This place is magic... Seriously.
Read moreI'm not a huge fan of Mexican food, but my partner made me try the tacos from this place on Very Vegan Sunday and I was completely blown away...COMPLETELY. First and foremost, the tacos are made with yuba, which is tofu skin...aka, the best part of tofu. I'm not sure what kind of magic they're doing on the grill, even though they cook it in plain sight, but holy goodness, it's AMAZZZZZZING! The flavoring of the tacos, yuba, and sauces are to die for. I can probably eat 20 of these at once...well, not 20, but I wish I could because this food is DELICIOUS!!!! 🌱🌮🌱🌮🌱

We tried them during one of the pop ups at The Butcher's Son. Tacos were ok, but lacking in flavor. I was not impressed, but I am willing to give them another try.

delicious vegan Mexican street food - Edit
Tacqueria la Venganza is a pop up that has served at Soma Streat Food in SF for vegan events, the Butcher's Son in Berkeley for Wednesday dinner, the Double Standard in Oakland Fri/Sat nights, and other events in the Bay Area and LA. They specialize in flavorful vegan replicas of classic meaty Mexican street foods, such as carne asada tacos or tripe sandwich. The food is unique; they use creative ingredients such as yuba that you won't see anywhere else, and it's delicious. If you can find them, bring lots of cash, be prepared for a long line, and get double the tacos you think you want because they are so tasty!!

Cons: typically a long wait
