Not what I expected - Edit
Visited December 2019.
Read moreWe got invited by someone to this restaurant, we were in a group of 8. We didn’t mention beforehand that someone is vegan, but that turned out to not be any issue. Because our group was quite large, we all had to get the menu which was 89€ (luckily we didn’t have to pay, the host did) Not sure, but I think it consisted of 7 dishes. I got something strange first (no idea what it was!), then i got a dish with cucumber and seagrapes which I really wanted liked, then an assorted sushi platter. I’ve had better vegan sushi before, but there were some surprising combo’s like leek sushi. After the sushi, I got a sad looking skewer with tomatoes and mushrooms instead of the Yakitori chicken skewers. As the main course, I got a grilled block of tofu with veggies (which was quite good, but i’d never eat that amount!) For the dessert they gave me some fresh fruit which was OK, but disappointing they didn’t really invent something more creative, while the other guests got an amazing matcha crêpe. Overall, the staff wasn’t really welcoming and friendly either. Quite disappointing, since we spent almost 1000€ including wines for an underwhelming dinner.
Pros: The vegan menu wasn’t an issue, Great presentation and interior, Some of the dishes were good
Cons: Not-so-friendly waiters, They basically don’t let you choose if big group, Overpriced

Great, but expensive - Edit
When ordering in advance, the chef will prepare you a complete vegan multiple course diner. It's very good, special as well, but also expensive (in my opinion a little too expensive).

great vegan lunch - Edit
I go to Tanuki multiple times a year. Always for lunch because than you get the best for your money;) lunch menu is 4/5 courses. And costs around €36. It’s so delicious and high quality food. Always super tasty. And healthy.
Read moreEvery time I mention in advance that I am vegan, to be sure. Recommend this place a lot!
In the evening they offer a different menu and it s pretty expensive I have to say.

Nice food, although very expensive - Edit
Made a reservation a couple of days in advance. No problem for vegan.
Read moreWe had a 4 course menu for 85€.
Although everything was very tasty and and nicely presented, we found 85€ to be on the expensive side. We’ve enjoyed more refined gastronomic experiences for that price or less (dessert was eg sorbet with some pieces of fruit).
Do keep in mind that Tanuki is a non-vegan restaurant, which is confrontational (open kitchen, koi fish in small pond).
