Loved it!

I loved this place. It didn’t seem as expensive as other vegan sushi places I’ve been to and it IS in Palo Alto. The desserts were UNbelievable!

Pros: Amazing food, All vegan, Dessert is incredible

Cons: No alcohol (yet?) , Parking can be hard (leave +15 min early)

Best location

The service here is perfect and so friendly. Also, I'm not exaggerating when I say the food was ready in only 5 minutes. Everything was great, and I'm going to go out of my way to come to Palo Alto for Tane Vegan Izakaya. Berkeley location needs to take notes 📝

All of the sushi is good, so that's simple. The cheesecake and pistachio ice cream are so good! I had to get both. And they didn't run out of dessert even though we dined in at the last reservation of the night.

Great Sushi

They have very unique, well thought out rolls. We had the Ewa (Smokey profile) and Point Reyes(sweet and spicy). Also had the Brussel sprouts and shiitake appetizer which were great. For dessert we did the matcha crème brûlée. Favorites of the night were the Point Reyes roll and Brussels spouts.

I really enjoyed this place and will be back!

OMG Go Right Now!

Plant based party people on the Peninsula do not have a lot of amazing choices. Well, there is now a stellar option. Sat at the sushi bar and got a bit of the run down - sister restaurant to the one in SF. I raved about that visit to all my friends but its very far and completely packed/reservations are hard (good for them!).

Its such a joy to be able to look at *EVERYTHING ON THE MENU* with mouth watering decision making happening. It is also terrible when you can eat *EVERYTHING ON THE MENU* because at some point you have to decide and actually pick something. The guy working the sushi spot gave me some good recommendations and said generally if it looks good on the menu, its not going to disappoint.

I started with their Mixed Salad. Big slices of heirloom tomato, lots of various fruits, arugula, crushed nuts, topped with dollops of reasonably sized, mayo forward zesty dressing. Largish salad. I think its also the first time I've eaten a big salad with chopsticks.

The Wedge is their most popular roll. I gave it a shot. Hard to describe how delicious. The whole roll is tempura fried and sliced. It was extremely crisp and light on the outside and savory delicious sushi roll on the inside. Some very wispy chili threads, amazing and not overdone sauce, fantastic. The roll stayed crispy - I think it would actually hold up well for to go.

Pros: Excellent, fresh ingredients, Very good portion size, Creative and tasty options

Cons: Where's the ramen?

Dream Come True!

Let’s be honest about one thing: Vegan sushi is amazing. No debate about that from anyone. Therefore, this Tane opening up shop in Palo Alto is a dream come true.
They started with Shizen in San Francisco around 2015 and then opened up the Tane location in Honolulu. Tane Berkeley came next and Palo Alto is the most recent Tane to open. I’m so glad because going all the way to SF or Berkeley for vegan sushi was a long way. But now we can have vegan sushi as often as we want here in Palo Alto 🥰.

Don’t forget to save room for dessert. Their home made vegan ice cream is the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted.

More vegan restaurants please!

Really blown away by the vegan sushi at Tane. The katsu and gyoza left a little to be desired but I really loved the bao buns. My parents are not vegan and they loved everything they had. The highlights for me were the bao buns, point Reyes roll (perfect blend of sweet and spicy), and the lilikoi berry cheesecake (highly recommend!)

Amazing food!

Already went twice!
The food is wonderful, both in presentation and flavor. It's as amazing as Shizen in San Francisco and Tane Vegan Izakaya in Berkeley. Attached are a few pictures of all the delicious dishes we tried, and yes, they are as good as they look.
The service is excellent, and the setting is really nice.
We are so lucky to have this restaurant in the south bay!

Pros: Amazing food., Excellent service., Nice setting.

Cons: A bit pricey (but totally worth it).

Just what Palo Alto needed!

I’m thrilled that there’s finally a fully-vegan restaurant right off University Ave. This is related to the Tane in Berkeley and equally amazing. The rolls are inventive and exquisite and I can’t wait to try all of them. The homemade pistachio and strawberry ice cream with fruit was delicious, too!

Amazing Vegan Sushi now it Palo Alto. (also in Berkley, San Francisco and Honolulu)

Amazing food similar to Shizen in SF! The atmosphere is very comfortable and small, great service. Most food (~90%) is gluten free but some do share a deep fryer with gluten items. Wasabi is very strong and ginger delicious. The Brussels sprouts were deep fried to perfection and super delicious. Presentation for the Point Rees rolls was great as was the taste. Also had the pistachio home made ice cream which was very good.

Pros: All Vegan and mostly gluten free, A little on the pricey side, but lovely inside, Amazing food!

Cons: Cross contamination fryer, GF sensitive beware
