This is the best Indian food I have ever experienced

The staff is friendly and understands what vegan means. The 5 vegan entrees on the menu are clearly labeled. I have been here several times and enjoyed 4 of the 5 vegan options. All are delicious.

Pros: Vegan options clearly identified, Best vegan food in Oakhurst, Reasonably priced

Cons: I wish they would expand their vegan options.

Vegan Dishes

I had the best experience at this restaurant and when I told them we were vegan, they showed us the menu items right away. They have Roti which is similar to vegan naan. Delicious and the vegan Dal with lentils was amazing!
Definitely will be back!

Pros: Clean, Lifhring, Prices

My Mixed Experience at Tandoori Express: Frustration Over Vegan Options

My visit to Tandoori Express left me feeling frustrated. When I sought assistance, the first person I encountered had no understanding of vegan requirements. Despite specifying no eggs, cheese, milk, meat, or fish, they pointed to a dish that was entirely made of cheese. It was a frustrating start, but thankfully, another staff member guided me to the vegan options.

Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming. It seemed like all the vegetables were sourced from the freezer, and it left me feeling like I wasn’t getting any essential nutrients. While it was filling, I decided to leave it uneaten. Oakhurst offers better dining choices for those looking for a vegan-friendly meal.

Very tasty!

We had vegetable Samosas, Okra Masala, Saag Paneer (vegetarian, not vegan) and Naan. Everything was very tasty. Portion sizes where perfect for us. Service was very fast, we waited 10 minutes for the appetizers and 2-3 more minutes for the main dishes.
They have a lot vegan options, hard to choose between them because everything sounded very good.

Pros: Fast service, Tasty, A lot vegan options

Óptima comida indiana!

Fomos jantar. Serviço super simpático. Opções vegan bem sinalizadas. As samosas são vegan. O pão naan não é mas o roti é. Doses generosas. Comemos bastante bem!

Clearly Labeled Vegan Options

There are 5 vegan options. The Naan is not vegan but the tandoori roti can be made vegan if requested. The spice level was pretty standard for an American Indian restaurants.

Pros: Clearly Labeled Entrées

Cons: Side and apps are not labeled

Fave local spot

They have a ton of options, as most Indian places do. But this is the best restaurant we have in town.

Pros: Many options, Large portions

A few decent vegan options

Tandoori Express serves typical Mughlai (northern Indian/Pakistani) cuisine.

We were told that here neither the veg samosas nor the veg pakoras are vegan (which is unusual, but of course we’re glad they told us when asked). So we had the Chana Masala and Dal Tadka, both of which were average in terms of taste and quality (not bad at all, but not wow either).

Service was delivered with a smile, and our take-out order was ready only 10 minutes later than their estimated time.

It would be good for them to add a few more vegan options to the menu (e.g. baingan bhartha and saag dishes without dairy products), and that would help add appeal to the menu for vegans and others who avoid dairy.
