Vegetarian bliss - Edit
Lots of options to share!
Read moreFor myself eating solo, the variety plate #6 was ideal. Around my plate clockwise from top: potatoes, spiced lentils, yellow split peas, some other pea?, cabbage and greens. All but salad was warm and soft. Colorful and flavorful.
After a few small pieces, I didn’t care for the injera wrap (fermented teff) - it was spongy and smelled like vinegar.

Veggie Combo - Edit
I loved the veggie combo here. It is quite large so I would recommend coming around 3-4 people for that dish. It is quite filling even between 3. Try the coffee as well. The veggie sambusas are great as well.

Incredible Injera - Edit
The menu features its vegetarian (which are all vegan) options front and center—literally. We all got the vegetarian special. The food was great and the decor was entertaining to say the least. My daughter really enjoyed the color changing water faucet in the bathroom. 😆

Fab and local - Edit
I’ve had Ethiopian an Eritrean all over the world and this is on par, especially for a local spot. The injera was moist and savory. The portions reasonable for the price. Two thumbs way up. A whole hand up if they went fully vegan.

Delicious veggie meal! - Edit
I have grown to love Ethiopian food and Tana did not disappoint. The food was fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly but reserved. Place is a bit run down but the food made up for it.

Five stars - Edit
Terrific little joint. We came as a family and ordered every vegan dish they had. Excellent! So inexpensive too. Four of us are stuffed and rolling home happy, rubbing our bellies.

Wow! - Edit
I usually only eat Ethiopian food when I travel but have tried it in many restaurants. I got mine delivered tonight and this is some of the best I’ve had. The heat level is perfect. I got the vegetarian plate, and it’s all vegan. I asked for extra injera, I just love it, and they gave me tons extra. Even with getting it delivered it is reasonably priced, and I have enough for lunch tomorrow. Super yummy too!!!

Excellent Healthy Eating - Edit
Located in a nondescript shopping the kind that characterize Southern California I probably would not have eaten here except for the many positive reviews. I was not disappointed.

thank goodness for Tana Ethiopian! - Edit
This is one of our Orange County favorites! My boyfriend and I have had Ethiopian food several times, and this place does not disappoint. We always get the Vegetarian Special, which is perfect to share with two people. Their Shiro Wot & vegan Sambusas are also very tasty.

Tasty veg options - Edit
Both food and service were excellent at Tana. I had the veg special, which included a great variety of very flavorful foods. My co-workers, one of which never had Ethiopian food before, both enjoyed their dishes too. I would definitely go back if i lived closer...

a five star review - Edit
I love, love, LOVE this restaurant. I would love to give this restaurant five stars, but I'm only allowed to give them four stars since they do serve some meat. I am a vegan and I eat here at least once a week! Such friendly service and delicious food. Ethiopian food is primarily lentils cooked in many different ways with many different spices. A great place to bring non vegans as well.

Satisfying if you're in OC - Edit
We enjoyed our lunch here, I had the large Veggie Platter special (the larger of the two combos) since I wanted to try everything and couldn't decide. It was delicious but unfortunately I do prefer the Ethiopian places in LA. The injera (sourdough crepe) was cold like it had been in a fridge, so it didn't seem fresh, whereas the LA restaurants have them made on the premises.
Read moreFlavorwise, not as deep as the LA ones either. Tasty, but mild in spice and flavor. They day we went they seemed short staffed as well and not ready for us so we may have gotten there too early? We were the second table of customers and it took them a while to come by, etc. When we left, there were more people coming in, so that's a good sign, and I hope they did better later. While this place was good, and we were in the mood for Ethiopian food, we'd come again only if in the area.
Pros: tasty, local, Ethiopian!
Cons: slow, could use more flavor

No frills, just very tasty food, good value in a simple setting. - Edit
Really enjoyed the place. Very tasty food, good service/portion, great value, with very simple decor. If this place was transported to Laguna Beach and the decor spruced up to make it more exotic, they can easily triple the price. Authentic because of the many Ethiopians we saw there. Because Ethiopian good is eaten by hand, the wife was shocked that the server also only used her hands when putting the neighboring customers'leftovers in the box. Will consider asking them to not put the food on the injera/bread because it does get a bit oily and soggy. We don't want to waste any food by not eating the bread.

First Time Having Ethiopian Food - Edit
So I've never had Ethiopian food until I came here but I was not disappointed. There are veg options and the food comes in big portions. The restaurant has a groovy, cozy atmosphere and it's a great place for getting together with family. And my adopted cousin who is from Ethiopia went here too and he loves it, so I think it's pretty authentic.
