a tad underwhelming.. - Edit
a good variety of vegan options here and multiple meat dishes can be made vegan, however this dining experience just felt a bit lazy? we ordered the glazed sticky tofu to start, which was good but i could tell they had just fried tofu until crispy and poured the sauce over the top, something i don't believe would have been the case with the meat version of this starter. i thought i would go with something different and order the jackfruit rendang for my main - it was a very flavourful dish however i could really, really taste the lemongrass and the portion size was quite small. luckily i had ordered some jasmine rice as a side which bulked up the meal, but if i hadn't i would have been very disappointed with the portion size. not a terrible experience, but i just feel there are better vegan options in london

There are better options around - Edit
There’s loads of vegan choice here, fun decor and good vibes. Our starters (kimchi cucumber salad, and sweetcorn fritters) were great. But mains were disappointing; I had the vegan jackfruit rendang which was very basic, and came with an egg… and my friend’s tamarind tofu was bland and small. At £70 for two drinks, two starters and two mains, it’s neither great value nor too pricey. Use the online menu via the QR code on the menu to look at the vegan menu online, other than saying dishes can be made vegan, the menu is pretty useless for vegans as they don’t state what any of the substitutions made actually are. We went on a busy Thursday evening without a booking and waited less than ten minutes for a table. Service is friendly but inattentive, the front of house guy was great😄

Great vegan-friendly Asian place - Edit
I visited this restaurant with an omnivore friend, who eventually ordered the same as me, mock duck. Both of us enjoy it, and the starter (spring rolls) was delicious as well.

Hits below expectations although this is a personal preference probably - Edit
The spring rolls are very disappointing and were served cut up which felt quite scrappy. The pad Thai I read was meant to be the best vegan pad Thai but I’d disagree - it’s got chilli flakes and spice (despite them saying no and pad Thais not meant to be spicy) and the flavour at Busaba Eathai is a lot nicer, I would say. My tastes are very different to the average vegan though! Good portion sizes though and reasobable prices and efficient service. However, Much better options nearby like Laksamania, although this does have a more extensive vegan menu if you want more choice.

East Street - Edit
Why eat at East Street when you can eat at Laksamania nearby? I ask that because I have eaten laksa at both and personally felt the food at East Street was very subpar. Their vegan summer rolls were not memorable either. So if you have to choose between two you now have a local's recommendation.

Whole vegan menu 😍 - Edit
Everything looks so good on the vegan menu. I ordered the vegan platter with tofu, roti, corn fritters and lettuce wraps. As a main I has the Katsu curry. It was all great! The staff are all lovely and so helpful. It's a really nice restaurant and the atmosphere is great.

Make sure it’s vegan - Edit
I was there and after I finished my vegan soup I found a shell at bottom of my bowl, so not vegan, to be honest I wasn’t very happy. Otherwise the food is nice and would give them a second chance

Vegan menu - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu with lots of option. I have been twice now, the food is good and the decor is great. Service is quite slow, particularly when it comes to paying.

Separate vegan menu, reasonable prices - Edit
Really liked this little spot! They have a separate vegan menu and happy hour with cocktails 2 for the price of 1 before 7pm. I had sticky tofu, vegetable tempura, and the vegan pad Thai. Finished with the fried bananas and mango sorbet for dessert and enjoyed everything.

Delicious! - Edit
We had a great time out here! Really relaxed vibe and good service.
Read moreI ordered the Sweet Potato Katsu Udon Soup and it was so good! Would definitely have this again.
Others ordered: the vegan Pad Thai - they loved it and the vegan Rendang - they really enjoyed it although it wasn’t much like Rendang they’d ever had before. We all shared the tofu starter which was really good too.
Banana fritter dessert was ok, probably really nice with riper bananas.
Pros: Loads of vegan options, Fun place to relax , Great flavours

Now called East Street (with new vegan menu) - Edit
Don't be put off by the slightly shabby exterior - this place is definitely worth stepping inside. It advertises a new vegan menu with "over 20 dishes" from all corners of SE Asia. The choices are interesting - for instance I chose the Jackfruit Rendang and my daughter the Sweet Potato Katsu curry, which were both generously sized, well presented and flavoursome, but to be honest could have chosen a fair few others. Staff very friendly and welcoming. And at around £10 for a main course in central London, very reasonably priced too.

Nothing special - Edit
The vegan meny is quite generous and I think the food usually should be really good. But during my visit, the noodle soup I ordered wasn’t that warm and the side dish came in long after the main dish. Also, our order was wrong so we had to wait longer... The restaurant is loud and uncomfortable. The atmosphere, theme and idea of the place is really cool but with my first experience during my visit would not chance to came back. Hopefully I just had bad luck!

Asian vegan food in "East Street" restaurant - Edit
Me and my girlfriend went to this restaurant not far from Tottenham Court Road. The restaurant is spacious and it has its own vegan/vegetarian menu.
