Buddhist Buffet with mock meats
A simple Buddhist vegan restaurant located at the base of the iconic ‘Big Buddha’ on Koh Samui, this is a basic vegan buffet (with a-la-carte options), offering food, juices and vegan cooking classes. The restaurant backs out onto the ocean, giving views of Koh Phangan from afar. Access by going under the main gate to the Big Buddha, drive on to the island and it is inside, to the right of the temple steps. Please call and book for cooking classes. Open Mon-Sun 8:00am-5:00pm.

Great Food & View - Edit
We had the fried rice and pad thai and both were delicious. The view was nice and really breezy on the day we went. Refreshing to sit and relax after seeing the big buddha temple.

My Tom Yam was 4/5 but as it is the only thing I tried I will give this place 5 stars for the location, choice of dishes and the effort to stay vegan in this cruel world

Quick food, tasty, lovely staff, cheap - Edit
Food was the typical buffet style. Some of the food was cold but was still really tasty. A mixture of flavours on one plate! The lady serving us was so lovely and could see it brought joy to her that people enjoyed her food. It was a really good price of 100baht per plate. And we left satisfied! The location was near the big Buddha through the market, labeled outside with the J sign and Vegan.

Delicious, local, great value vegan food in a beautiful spot. - Edit
Came here for breakfast this morning and will be back.
Read moreIt took a little bit of finding as the directions link on HappyCow using either Google Maps or Apple Maps sends you to the wrong place. I've included a photo of the location spot on Google maps so you can find it easier, and a picture of the outside of the restaurant plus the giant yellow sign to look for.
The restaurant is very basic but the lovely lady running it is so friendly and skilled, plus the view and the temple nearby is amazing.
I had the vegan spicy fish and my partner had the red curry. Both were very, very tasty and we'd recommend either. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.
We both had iced lemon teas which were delicious because they tasted like they had a touch of tamarind which made them very unique.
Pros: Amazing delicious food, Very friendly host, Great view and location

Big noodles fried - Edit
Can't really suggest this dish to anyone. Slimy and everything tasted like the slime and I did not personally enjoy it. It was hard to eat it all.

A very modest little place - Edit
This is a really very local little place but it’s very cheap and the owners are friendly, though don’t expect anything fancy. However the food was really nice and it came fast. We came close to 5pm so there was no more buffet but we could order a la carte. We had a sour soup and a pad thai which were both good. It was a good option next to the temple but nothing overwhelming

Good vegan food with a view! - Edit
Vegan food hidden away inside a souvenir shop near the Big Buddha. No sign of a buffet the day we went so ordered off the menu. The red curry was delicious and we also tried the fried fish which was probably not quite as good as reviews here made out, but it was still a great lunch and definitely recommended if you’re in the area!

doesn’t live up to reviews - Edit
unfortunately, this place was a let down for us. i think the concept here is a fantastic idea to have a vegan buffet, especially within footsteps of one of the biggest tourist attractions of the island. however, the food here was not to our likings, was cold, and unhygienic (our plates gunky) so would not recommend. on the plus side the staff here are lovely and the view over the sea was so beautiful. i feel harsh writing such a critical review, but pretty much all other reviews rated this place so high, and so it really shocked us to be let down so much. perhaps, if the hygiene was better and food more tasty, i would suggest visiting here.

We had the vegan fried fish with salad and mushroom stir fry that I believe was with seitan. Gorgeous view and very cheap. A bit hard to find as they don't have any signage outside but so glad we did

Amazing location and food. Cheap! - Edit
The expectations were low given how simple and popular this place looks alike. Well, try the fake fish! Maybe with fried rice. Amazingly tasty. And the view? Let's talk about it. The big Buddha is close by.

Friendly family service, don't worry even if the food doesn't look "sexy" at first glance, it's excellently seasoned and authentically Thai. I can only recommend!

Cheap and delicious - Edit
It’s kind of hidden at the back of the shop. There’s a counter with a range of Vegan dishes. The lady spooned some rice onto a plate then a number of different dishes from the counter - I just told her I didn’t want anything too spicy and she picked the appropriate ones. It was all delicious.

New favorite, well worth the trip - Edit
There’s plenty of good vegan food on Samui these days, but Tamachat stands out for its wow-inducing food and the waterfront views. Service was very sweet, too, and the prices are reasonable. The spring rolls here are the best we had on the island (full of veggies), but the real star of the show was the panang curry, one of the best we’ve ever had anywhere.

Basic Thai dishes, solid flavors - Edit
We are a family of six.
Read moreThis restaurant is exactly as described.
Simple Thai classic dishes. All vegan. Everything had clean clear flavors.
Ordered the green curry, Tom kah soup, pad Thai, and vegetables with rice.
Prices are good, service is sweet with very little English, but easy to order with a menu in English.
Photo of menu and half eaten food, a testament to how quickly my kids, devoured it.
Not traditionally as spicy as Thai can be, so if you’re looking for spice specify (I like really really spicy food and my kiddos vary with the younger tolerating very little- I’m training the up, but it takes time:)
Restaurant is in the back of the shop that other reviews have in the photos) and the view over the water from the dining area is sweet.
Solid choice for lunch or casual dinner.
(For reference, we are a family of Globetrotters, have been vegan for 10 years and hit over 15 countries.)
Pros: Simple dishes, clean flavor, View of water , Location at the foot of the big Buddha
Cons: None, it is what it claims to be!

Delicious Food and Gorgeous Sea View! - Edit
Had the pad Thai and spring rolls - both were very yummy. The Pad Thai was more like a sweet and sour noodle dish than I’m used to for Pad Thai, but it was great. Very kind woman, one of whom greeted me with, “Ready for Vegan food?!” Which I loved haha. OH and the view! Wow!

Jay with a view - Edit
The a la carte dishes are tasty. The price of the food is high for a typical "jay" restaurant. The sea view from your table makes up for this.

Fresh Asian Vegan - Edit
To the right a few shops before the entrance to the Big Buddha. Front of store looks like gift shop but lady cooks fresh dishes by order in back. Look for big yellow red Jay (Vegan) sign (looks like number 17). We arrived at 3 and enjoyed vegan duck, noodles, french fries and spring rolls and two water. "Duck" had lovely veg in a coconut, kaffir sauce.
