Not a bad option

Koran taco fusion. I think the bowls are better value than the tacos. Best part is all items are marked if they are vegan and you can get the full worms in vegan way (using either tofu or season vegetables as the main filling). That said those in my party didn’t really care of their food. I ate all mine (they didn’t) but wouldn’t rush back. The tofu is indeed very sweet. If you like sugary and not healthy then it might be fine (was ok with me). Overall not a bad option to try this place especially if you want a rice based dish (brown and white available).

Pros: Clearly marked vegan options on menu

Great lunch

I enjoy their bowls as a vegan lunch option during the work week. Their tofu is served in small roasted blocks. It has been well pressed and seasoned and has a great texture. I like the kale slaw and Korean salsa roja.

Bad tofu

While the kale slaw and rice good, the tofu was sort of awful. It was extremely salty, and too sweet. TaKorean is more expensive than Rice Bar and Bibibop, you get less food (both in terms of size of the bowl and quantity of ingredients), and the quality is lacking. Not many choices to make in terms of additions to the bowl.

Pros: Good location

Cons: Awful tofu

The cauliflower is everything!

I’m so happy they made the cauliflower a permanent staple! Vegans can have cauliflower or tofu in a bowl or a taco. I highly recommend always adding the pickled daikon (radish) and fried shallots to your order. Delish!

Good and simple

Very clear for vegan options on their menu list. Very simple but it makes delicious. Good for fast food.

Delicious, creative, fun!

Such a fun fusion of tacos and Korean inspired food. It’s basically a Chipotle-style restaurant where you pick and choose each part of the meal.

I personally think the bowl, which comes with rice and slaw, is the best value. It provides for a huge portion in comparison to the tacos.

Vegan protein options are tofu and cauliflower. There’s a spicy slaw that’s vegan, but sadly no vegan kimchi. WE WANT VEGAN KIMCHI! Otherwise though, great quick, casual option.

Pros: Delicious , Two protein options

Cons: No vegan kimchi

interesting flavors

I like TaKorean, but it's not really something that I crave. But their menu is easy to tell what's vegan, they have tofu, and you can easily make it spicy. I usually skip the Sriracha because it's not a unique topping and makes it too spicy for me. This TaKorean is a nice location, decent amount of seating inside, and lots of places to eat outside nearby (Yards Park).

Pros: tasty, spicy, good seating

Cons: can taste a little one-note

Good vegan options, tasty food

TaKorean is a Chipotle style fast food joint. Clearly labeled vegan options on their menu.

Start with a base, either tacos, rice or slaw. Add tofu and/or veggies, then top with cilantro, sesame seeds, avocado cream and hot sauce.

The food is great and the attention to vegan options is awesome. They even cooked the tofu in a separate pan from the meat.

Asian Fusion Tacos

This place is better than I expected, but, it is fast food style, so be wary of that if you're a food snob. When you walk into the establishment, the ceilings are high, the decor is minimalist, and the seating is hip. Proceed to your right and saddle up next to a large menu on the wall, or stare up above to find the same menu with a more horizontal approach to it.

What to order for the veg*n? Easy! Tacos, rice bowl, slaw bowl, rice & slaw bowl or all of the above. You can order a single taco for $3 or a bowl for just under $10 with tax. It seems pricy, but the attention to the fresh flavor is satisfying enough that it feels worthwhile. They have beer, sake and fountain sodas, as well as bottled beverages, including water. The place is a no frills and popular "look at your pre-cooked and prepared choices in front of you and order it up" approach. Works for me!

They mark everything that's vegan, making it pretty easy. The rice is a white rice, which has a very Korean flavor to it - as in, not your Jasmine, Basmati or American style long-grain Uncle Ben's rice. It's good fast food Korean style rice. There are 3 slaws, 2 are vegan - the napa romaine and the kale. The only "protein" is tofu, but when they dish it out in a bowl, it is, what I feel, a very protein-focused delivery. Lots of tofu - caramelized and crisp, salty from a reduced hoisin sauce, in cube format - atop the rice and/or crunchy slaw. Eat it as a taco if you please. For the finale, ask for any of the 3 vegan choices: sesame seeds, Sriracha and cilantro (go for the trifecta and get 'em all!).

My only concern is that I wish there were a few more veggies… though in Korean cuisine, there aren't often that many. So, just add on more slaw for $1!

I enjoyed visiting this location, and if ever stuck in the Navy Yards area in need of a quick veg*n fix, I would probably end up at Takorean!

Pros: Vegan items marked on menu, Slaws!, Fast and filling

Cons: Limited menu
