Tasty

We had the vegetable curry and the chana masala, both were delicious. The food is also quite inexpensive.
When we were there, they opened about 30mins later than advertised, so maybe be aware of that.

Pros: Tasty food, Waiter knows what vegan means, Inexpensive

Cons: Quite spicy, even though we asked for 'mild'

Sehr lecker!!

Sehr lecker!

Pros: Alle vegetarischen Gerichte in vegan möglich

my favorite restaurant in Santander

I'm a regular customer because in a little town like Santander it's a dog life for vegetarians! But here you find a nice section of the menu with tasty veggie dishes. Excellent service (the owner/senior manager is always very keen to explain the dishes), tasty food, cosy atmosphere. I recommend it if you like Indian cuisine. Maybe their minor is deserts. New management since mid 2019.

Best Indian

in spite of an apparent lack of Indian competition, I was delighted with my meal at the Taj Mahal. Service was very good and food prepared as I had requested it, so that the courses were medium hot with rich flavours; vegetables and pulses maintained their texture but were suffused with flavours. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and well maintained.
I will definitely return on my next visit.

Different address!

This place is not as directed on the map here. I haven't been to it but it's on 46 Calle Sta Lucia, Santander. According to Google it's a vegetarian restaurant, so maybe they've had a business rethink!

The indian waiter is the problem

The restaurant is in diferent palce as indicated by this aplication. Its was 14 o'clock and space was totally empty, but waiter spoke on his mobile phone and let me wait 8 min. After I was ordering the kitchen prepered my meal very quick but he need another 8 min to bring may meal from kitchen to my table, because he was still on the phone. The food was good.

Food was okay, Waiter not really

Restaurant opened at 20:00, I arrived around 20 minutes later. i was guided to a seat and then left waiting for what felt like 20 minutes until I got a menu card. had to explain to the waiter what vegan means, he only spoke little english. I ordered vegetable curry with rice, which was okay except the rice had funny coloured sprinkles that did not taste strange but did't either look like what I would expect in a serious restaurant. Prices were okay.

Cons: unfriendly waiter, confusing spots of colour in the rice

Curry and more

Heartening to see a curry house in central Santander. One look at the menu and it was immediately clear that this place catered to the standard British tourist- chicken tikka and kormas were in abundance.
However there were certainly a lot of vegetarian options. I decided to go for a simple 'tara daal' (yellow lentil), rice and naan. My friend ordered a 'dum aloo'. Assuming that the palette would be very bland (as experienced in otjer arts of Northern Spain) we went for 'medium spicy'. In fact it turned out to be a bit too spicy for me - so I would recommend 'mild' if chilly is not for you. The sauce for both the dishes appeared to be exactly identical. Portion size was reasonable. We were served by a person who appeared to be the owner or a senior manager. Service was courteous and fast.

Pros: Central location, Good range of veggies on menu, Courteous, fast service

Cons: The base sauce appeared to be identical, Food was 'rich' so not a light bite

Lovely place

Strangely enough, for a city that receives boats from big vegetarian-friendly countries like Ireland and the UK, it's surprisingly difficult to find a place that serves good vegetarian food here. However, this is a good find. The waiter is a very friendly Indian man who speaks english fluently. Oddly enough, that despite boats arriving in from Ireland and the UK, the menu does not come in english but he will explain it all to you. If you like very hot/spicey dishes, you will have to specify it as, in general, they are not so, as Spanish people are not very tolerant of hot foods.

This is a fairly easy place to find with just a basic knowledge of map-reading skills needed. The waiter is very nice and friendly. And the choices for both vegans and vegetarians is very good. One of the nicest places I have eaten. It feels very posh and is a great place to bring non-veggie friends too, as I did. We all had a good selection and oddly enough, they even choose the veggie options.....and loved them. Nothing is too hot/spicey. The price is also fair. The place is also open very late unlike most places in Santander.

Definitely worth the search.

Pros: Great selection and good quality, Posh feel and lovely waiter, Opens late

Cons: nothing

Top class Indian

Excellent Indian restaurant with delicious flavours and authentic spices. There's a good-sized vegetarian section in the menu with plenty of vegan options. We had four vegan dishes - vegetable curry, dhal, chickpeas and mushrooms, and all were superb. The staff were friendly and welcoming to vegans.

Pros: Delicious, Authentic, Plenty of vegan dishes
