Small, locally owned and operated vegan cafe. Serves lunch and weekend brunch using local produce, most of which is from Full Earth Farm in Quincy, FL. Coffee (house roasted) and tea is fair-trade organic. Lemonade & iced tea made fresh daily. Counter service and a homey atmosphere. Opened in April 2011. No 'wfpbno' options. Open Mon-Fri 11:00am-9:00pm, Sat 10:00am-9:00pm, Sun 10:00am-3:00pm.

Try to visit on every trip - Edit
I loved Sweet Pea when I lived in Tally and was an omnivore and love it even more now that we are vegan. We try to visit whenever we visit town. My young daughter especially loves the pastries, and I'm a sucker for their poutine. Meals are always tasty and indulgent. We like the outdoor seating and general can-do, punk-rock vibe.

I was traveling through Tallahassee on my way to Alabama and stopped here for dinner. The vibe was chill and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Big Salad with grilled tofu and carrot ginger dressing. It was so delicious. I had the grilled tofu which was hands down the best tofu I’ve had. It also had a kick to it. Lastly, I got the blonde brownie which was divine. I highly recommend this place.

from the first time i went here, the most hilarious thing to me is how the only business next to sweet pea is a meat market. the food at sweet pea is rather tasty and i love how everything is 100% vegan. there used to be inside seating but now your only option is outside seating. it’s by no means fancy. there is also an extra charge for ordering food to-go.

Excellent Rancheros Special - Edit
The best meal I’ve had in nearly a month. Before going, make sure the weather favors outdoor dining. Only three small table have overhead protection from rain and I was lucky to get one of them. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended. This is the best place for vegans in Tallahassee.

7/9/2021: would still highly recommend the spicy BLT. Their bakery items are still amazing as always. They are probably the safest place as far as pandemic protocols that you can get. Masks are required there is no eating under the patio, however they do have outside seating.
Read more2019: We had the Spicy BLT, which is always good and would highly recommend. Today they had banana bread cinnamon buns for their sunday special, and they were amazing! I personally am not a fan of cinnamon buns because they are usually sickeningly sweet, but these were perfect!

The sandwiches were good, I had the BLT, my wife had the Reuben, the sweet potato fries were a combination of burned and soggy, and the ginger carrot slaw was misleading, I expected it all to be shredded, it is shredded cabbage, carrot, with puree carrot and ginger on the top, not pretty to look at and a very odd consistency to eat. I would definitely get the sandwiches again but try different sides

Best food yet on this huge road trip we’ve been on. Had the tacos modern life special with the carrot ginger slaw and the Buffalo tofu sandwich. Both were amazing. Cleared out the sinuses for the rest of the drive. Definitely worth the stop and if we’re ever thru Tallahassee again we’ll be back

I got the Tempeh Ruben Sandwich and chose the carrot ginger slaw for my side. The sandwich was kind of dense and heavy and was actually enough for two people. In fact I would recommend that somebody order the sandwich which comes with one side and then add an additional side if you’re looking for a light lunch for two. At any rate the sandwich was OK although it was lacking some thing and it was a bit salty. The Carrot ginger slaw was OK. I would come back here again but likely would try other things on the menu to find my favorite. By the way, three stars from me does not mean the food was bad… It means that the food was good but not really above average. The total for my sandwich with side dish was $11.29 including tax.

Sweet Pea Cafe is a nice little vegan spot in Tallahassee. They have a good range of sandwiches and sides with daily specials. In addition, they also carry a nice range of vegan pastries/desserts. With COVID-19 out there they're currently take-out only. But once things are better there is a decent-sized indoor seating area as well as outdoor seating on the patio.

This restaurant is amazing. It has an intimate setting and offers seating both indoors and outside. The prices are pretty reasonable, and they offer baked goods outside of what they sell in store. The food is so good and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place!

Rate the food a 4/5: had the fried tofu Korean bbq sandwich with kimchi, which was good. I was disappointed in the poutine, the cheese wasn't melted as expected and the gravy had this weird sweet oat? taste. And the rocky road brownie was absolutely delicious. Also the restaurant is covid "safe" and you order through an intercom and get your food through a small door (no contact necessary) 5/5. And the employees were sweet and patient 5/5. Will visit again!

Prices are very reasonable. Quaint place. Perfectly placed next door to a meat market. Walk up ordering in the time of Covid. Fairly quick service. Had the Tempeh Reuben, delicious!! And sweet potato fries on the side totally filled me up! Great. Wish I lived close by!
