Legendary Chaat Heaven

We had heard about Surati Farsan and their Chaat (Indian street food), sweets and savory snacks for months and were dying to visit!! They cater mainly to an Indian clientele and everything tasted so authentic. Reminded me of eating street food back home in India.

TIP: Definitely order ahead online and get takeout from here if you can!
Two reasons: One, the place can get CRAZY, bustling and pretty disorganized with crowds of people everywhere, so it can be super hard to find a spot to sit down.. and two, if you get chaat to takeout, you can adjust the condiments to your preferred spice level.

The Pani Puri is to DIE for!! Super fresh ingredients and the puris were perfectly crispy. Also excellent is the Sev Puri, Bhel Puri and the Dabeli. We also picked up several packages of the savory snacks to enjoy with chai - recommend the Sev and the African Chevdo. SO GOOD!!

Vegans should ask staff about dairy in some dishes.

Pros: Vegan heaven!!

Cons: Can get really crowded with long wait times

Delicious, convenient option

I stopped by here after being inspired by a friend who showed up to my house one day with a large box of their samosas. Some days, you just don't want to cook, and seeing that we didn't have time to have a sit down meal at a restaurant, I love that I could just go somewhere to order a thali platter to take home.
While there is seating and many people will come to stay a while to eat, this place is also a bustling take-out mart, and lines of people will come in just to get a box of sweets or to pick up an order. The friendly staff took my order (everything here is vegetarian, and they will let you know what is vegan), and then I just enjoyed the ambiance and people-watched while I waited for my food. It didn't take very long, and I headed home with a large lunch. Granted it would have been better to eat there, as our enormous dosa and fluffy puri didn't quite make the trip home unscathed... but the flavors were wonderful and we ate everything. The only item I wasn't a huge fan of was the fun indian taco fusion (why not, I think they were playing with daily specials) but all the items from the regular menu were fantastic. I will definitely be coming back, either to get myself another box of goodies or more preferably, to grab a table and enjoy everything there.
*upon coming back, it is CRAZY and hard to get somewhere to sit. Once you do, your pager goes off whenever one or more of your dishes is ready and you go up to get your food, but since they may not all come out at the same time, you go through the huddle again whenever something is ready. Be ready for crowds and trying to squeeze for seats, we were elbow to elbow with some others (who were all very cool so it was fine) but you won't have quiet meal. Trying a few more dishes, they are very good, but not sure if it was worth the bustle when outside it's neighboring restaurants are just as good*

Pros: convenient, delicious, friendly, all vegetarian menu with daily specials

Cons: seating is tough, and free for all, crowds to get your food at the counter

Fun experience

Had read about this on HappyCow and came by to try the food. Here's my Surati Farsan Mart review.

I was very impressed walking into the store. It's very clean, modern, and elegant. The walls are painted red and black and the lighting over the glass cases are bright yellow. Many different sweets and fried salty snacks are presented in glass cases, and everything looked interesting.

I bought a little of almost everything that's without dairy. Vegans should ask.

Pros: many choices, tasty snacks, service

Amazing

I hadn't really had Gujarati food before this restaurant but I always loved Indian food. I have to say this place is amazing. I haven't been since I went vegan but I loved most items on the menu. Everything is vegetarian and I suspect there are items on the menu that are vegan.

The food is very reasonably priced and it's quite a fun culinary and cultural adventure.

The place can get very crowded but all the items are really reasonably priced.

You may not know what most of the items on the menu are but I always enjoy taking friends and ordering lots of items tapa style and sampling everything. It might help, though, to bring a friend familiar with this food.

Pros: great food, cheap, fun

Cons: crowded
