Mouth-watering and mind-blowing food - Edit
Super Vegan restaurant might be modest in size (maximum size 20 people), but its food is unique in taste and I really enjoyed dining in this restaurant. This restaurant mainly serves Chinese cuisine as well as non-alcoholic beers too.
Read moreWhen I first entered this restaurant at around 4pm, I was grateful that it was still opened to customers during their rest time, as their employees were literally sleeping on the chairs. The lady boss who served us was extremely patient as we took some time to pore through the multi-page menu before ordering. As it was our first time, she gave us a list of suggestions which she obtained via people who recommended them online.
It didn’t take too long for the food to be served. I ordered their signature vegan egg, sweet and sour mushrooms in clay pot and stir-fried cauliflower. Their vegan egg was simply mind-blowing; the vegan replica looked exactly like the real egg, and even tasted exactly like one! I enquired what was the ingredients in it, and I vaguely recalled – pumpkin, green beans etc. The cauliflower was also appetising too, as I had yet to try stir-fried cauliflower cooked with this flavor. These two dishes were re-ordered during my second visit to this restaurant.
After our meal, we had a hearty chat with the lady boss, and she shared with us about how this vegan restaurant was born. I asked if she has any recommendation of bookstore as I was looking for one, and she immediately searched one near my hotel, with the name and exact location written for me!
The only drawback was the obscure location of this restaurant even though it is located within a shopping mall. We had to keep asking around in order to successfully find it. The toilets were too far from this restaurant even though it was on the same level, and I kept getting lost. Nevertheless, this restaurant is just next to Dapuqiao train station, and is near Tian Zi Fang and Luili China Museum. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try since the food is generally tasty and the price is right.

Can't Go Wrong. - Edit
First time at this location after being a regular at the branch in Buy Now mall. We ordered dishes I know well and they didn't disappoint. The vegan shrimp don't really look or taste like shrimp (I'm happy with that) but are done in a very tasty spicy crispy batter. The dumplings here are nice but not my favourite. The crispy mushrooms are still amazing, like spicy fries. The baby aubergine with Thai basil is a firm favourite. The menu is great and there is still so much I haven't tried. They also serve a lunch set which changes each day, you get a plate with small selections of the day but it's very inexpensive.

Super Vegan - Edit
Super vegan was one of my favorite restaurants to eat at in Shanghai and the prices were incredibly reasonable too.
Read moreI ate here twice and really loved the "Sliced Noodle Soup with Assorted Vegetables" so I ordered it twice. The first time I went I ordered too much food so be mindful of how much you order if you're by yourself! The yuba appetizer I ordered the first time was delicious and on point. The soup had really great, rich flavor and the gluten in the soup, which was delicious and chewy. If this restaurant were closer to my hotel, I probably would have eaten at Super Vegan every day.
PS- There is not a whole lot of English being spoken here, so if you want them to omit something from your dish, forget it. I kept asking for no mushrooms and once received a soup with no noodles! LOL! And that's even with using the Google Translator!

Delicious fully vegan menu - Edit
Came here 3 times during my stay. A little tricky to find but well worth it, the directions on Happy Cow are accurate, just make sure to turn left trough the plastic curtain when facing the escalators. There is normally one English speaking member of staff but if not the menu has English descriptions and photos. Some dishes come out at different times but that is because it is all freshly made. Lots of mock meats but also some nice vegetable based dishes. I really enjoyed the tangerine flavoured beef, the dumplings, the broccoli with crab powder and the joyful wheat gluten. My favourite however was the hot and spicy vegan fish - it was the best food I’ve eaten in Shanghai (a little oily but the flavour was amazing), the portion was enormous and had to take half home. It’s best if you come with a group or at least 2 so you can try more of their delicious menu!

Another great spot with awesome food and service - Edit
That really says it all. Great food, supremely warm and friendly staff, comfy atmosphere. it wasn’t very busy when I was there and I dined solo, but still the food definitely came out quickly for the amount of obvious care that went into preparing it.
Read moreIt is slightly hard to find the first time you go. If you go via metro to Dapuqiao, I recommend heading toward exit 2, then making a left before the exit elevator, and you should see it when you turn right. The letters are in bright green. I’ll try and provide more specific directions the next time I go.
Pros: Delicious, Cozy , Friendly, warm staff, great service
Cons: Slightly hard to find, but don’t be discouraged

The staff was super friendly the bean beetroot dessert was very tasty. This is a nice place to go for lunch on a warm day because it's in a food mall underground at the level of the subway which makes it fresh, the inside of the restaurant is cosy and the food is all vegan.

Super friendly staff , very good food - Edit
The small cute restaurant is located in the mall food court little difficult to locate without knowing the exact location . The most near location is to find exit 2 of dapuqiao station on line 9, just before the escalator if u are exiting from the station take a left in to the mall food court , ul find sushi express, take a look at the right from the corner there ul find the board of this restaurant. The staff are super friendly soft spoken very helpful, they speak English too , and menu also has English. They offered a fork to me because i was a foreigner and they had doubt of my chopstick use 😁🤣🤣. The food also is very good. Has good options mainly with fake meats and the taste of the dishes were good. Service is quite quick. They also have round tables and group sitting. Nice restaurant to quickly reach from metro station. Thanks happy cow for introducing to me to this place.

Super Vegan - Edit
The fried rice is amazing with the orange “chicken.” I’ve been several times and I’ll continue to go as long as I’m living in Shanghai. There’s some confusion how to get here: basically when you exit Dapuqiao, exit 3 and follow the restaurants inside to the right until you see it.

Had a „mock meat“ starter and a vegan curry with vegetables and mushrooms. Really good and got extra rice for free. Lovely staff, so nice compared to other places in Shanghai.

When you leave the subway you will see in the underground food court a McDonalds - go through it and turn left - supervegan is in the second part of the food court - you need to cross the pathway which separates the food court in two areas - then you find supervegan in this kind of narrow side corridor of the foodcourt

Disappointing - Edit
I can’t believe this place had so good reviews. The place was difficult to find. The service was super slow even I was the only customer. I ordered a spicy soup, there was no spices in the food. Never had so tasteless food before. I ordered another food, didn’t taste either. After these two dishes I was still hungry. Juice was the only good thing in this place.

Best vegetarian food we had in China - Edit
This restaurant is amazing, well worth the price. If you like mock meats this is the place to go. The sweet and sour 'fish' with pine nuts was heavenly, the spicy 'beef' tendon soup very hot and delicious, and the cauliflower scrumptious. Service was formal but very cordial and our cups of water were promptly refilled whenever they were empty. We were a party of 50% meat-eaters but we all enjoyed it equally.

Good vegan food! - Edit
There's a huge array of options here and the food is reasonably priced compared to a lot of the veggie restaurants in Shanghai. Expect to see a lot of mock meat/fish so if that isn't your thing then this probably isn't the place for you. The staff are so lovely, and everything tastes pretty good. Also there are dumplings!

Great place! - Edit
We shared 4 dishes (2 people) and not only did we leave Super Vegan feeling satisfied, but we also took some leftovers with us. We tried the Joyful Wheat Gluten with peanuts and some black thin mushroom, the Tangerine Flvoured Vegan Beef, the Cauliflower based dish and the Fried Rice with Minced Mushroom Meat. For the leftovers, we had to pay 2 CNY extra for using the plastic container, which I find fair and for the first time in 3 months since I am in China, I received a bio-degradable plastic bag to carry the food with. I would also like to praise the waiters for their very good English speaking skills.

Right in the metro station DaPuQiao (for TianZiFang) - Edit
We followed the direction mentioned by one of the reviews below and found it without any problem. It is right at Exit one and turn left into the food court before the escalator to exit the metro station. We arrived at the weird hour of 4pm, no other guest and the staff was busy looking at their phones. We didn't like the some kind of award winning appetizer on the first page, the noodle soup was a bit plain but the dumplings were good. Price was ok too, around 100Y. Happy to have this place around just right next to a hot tourist spot.
