Great vegan options

Several great vegan options. A tofu scramble, tofu breakfast bowl or tofu breakfast burrito. Beware, the tahini dressing has honey. They were kind enough to let me know.

Pros: Vegan Options

Couple of good options for breakfast

There are not a lot of breakfast places that even have one vegan option, so I was pretty happy to find Sunrise has three. I had the tofu hash and it was so filling and yummy. Great place to go with a friend who is not vegan and you both leave happy and full.

Pros: Nice outdoor seating, Big portions

Cons: Not a lot of vegan options

Some Vegan Options, staff happy to help

Traveling we used out HappyCow app at lunch. So hard to find parking for tff he e restaurant we chose that we parked away and planned to walk. Happily, Sunrise was steps from our car. Very helpful staff helped us know what vegan options were and what could be tweaked to be vegan. Delicious!

No longer has tofu

They used to have the best tofu scramble, but don't use tofu anymore, unfortunately. The only thing you can get for breakfast are the potatoes, without the eggs and cheese. It's good, but I was disappointed in the change.

The unexpected brunch hub of Walnut Creek

Update Jan 2021:
Over the past year, Sunrise has added tons of vegan options to their menu! Now you can get vegan breakfast burritos, burrito bowls, fancy toasts, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and more. It was already delicious and vegan-friendly, but now it’s even better! They also added vegan milk options for coffee as well.

Old review:
This is one of my favorite local restaurants, and it’s always busy. If you go for brunch on a weekend, expect a wait.

The menu is large, and there are several vegan options available, including a tofu scramble for breakfast. The staff is knowledgeable about vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and healthy options, so this is a great place to go with a group comprised of people both with and without dietary restrictions.

The food and drinks are always good, and you can order coffee or cocktails from the bar before you’re seated if you have to wait for your table.

TIP FOR VEGANS: after you’re seated, your sever brings a small bowl of fresh pastries for the table. These aren’t vegan, but they will happily bring you fruit instead, so be sure to let them know ahead of time that you would prefer fruit.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Happy and helpful staff

Cons: Usually a wait
