Serves meat, vegan options available. Thai eatery offering several vegan starters and main dishes with tofu. Be sure to specify no egg and no fish sauce. Open Tue-Sun 17:00-22:00.
Closed Mon.
When we got there we questioned what was vegan & the chef said 'does that mean no meat?'. A concerning start. We had the mixed starter which was bland. Then we had the red curry & green curry, which both tasted nice, but both of us had upset stomachs the next day, which I never have
Sukothai is an unassuming little restaurant tucked away down a side street in Penzance. The menu offers the usual range of Thai starters, curries and stir fries - many of which are available with either vegetables or tofu. Just make sure you remember to order without fish sauce. Everything we tried was tasty enough without being amazing hence four stars rather than five. It is BYOB but there's a Co-op just around the corner where you can grab a beer or a bottle of wine if you wish.
Bring your own booze (for reasonable corkage) to this lovely Thai in Penzance. Lots of the vegetarian menu is suitable for vegans, menu directs you to ask and we were talked through what was suitable. We shared spring rolls, veg tempura (both very good), peanut parcels, coconut rice and massaman curry (all incredible). Vegetable or tofu option available for curries (although they were out of tofu so we didn't try it). Veg was really fresh and tasty.
Delicious Thai food with several vegan options - Edit
We came across Sukothai when visiting Penzance and decided to give it a try. They have several vegan starters, including peanut parcels (which were delicious) and the usual spring rolls. Most of the curries can be had with tofu. The red curry with tofu was absolutely delicious, as was the coconut rice. I'm still thinking about it now! Portions were huge and staff were lovely and very friendly.
