Delightful little eatery - Edit
Quaint little place with fresh groceries, offering a range of vegan sandwiches and other home made meals and cakes. Friendly staff. Ate in and had a very tasty tofu sandwich, and a yummy cookie to go.

Unwavering vegan, through thick and thin - Edit
Things are not at an all-time-high in the Biscayan vegan scene. Indeed, in a mere year or two, the province has experienced losses of vegan restaurants (Mandrágora, Penguin Bar), a change of owners which has resulted in a fully vegan bar embracing meat (Txukrut), both locations of formerly vegetarian café Arvo offering ham and/or pastrami, organic and vegetarian shop Kresala, est. 1998, incorporating animal products, and of course, the cowards at La Parada de Bilbao jumping on the burger bandwagon and abandoning any semblance of vegan-friendliness. Alas, this list is surely not exhaustive.
Read moreThe good news is that we still have Suculenta, and that they remain both succulent and vegan. Not once have I been disappointed in their attentive staff or their lovely fare, whether it be a special New Year's menu or a more standard dish any given boring Tuesday. The shop part of the business (featuring fresh fruit and veg as well as packed products) is appreciated, prices are fair, and I wouldn't exactly complain about the fact that they'll give you a small discount if you bring your own boxes. Last time round I opted for a Thai soup -or rather, two portions of it- and a generous piece of shiitake and onion empanada. As always, top-notch stuff.
May Suculenta continue to wave the vegan flag for years, or decades, to come, no matter the culinary trends.

Fabulous picnic/coffee takeaway - Edit
Such a gorgeous array of freshly made foods at the counter, we wanted to try it all! The bocadillos were exceptional, and lots of other tasty things to make an excellent picnic spread. Also run by a really lovely person - definitely worth visiting if in Bilbao

Las dueñas son simpáticas, atentas y profesionales. La tienda es pequeña pero está muy bien aprovechada. Tienen bebidas, verduras, frutos secos y demás productos para comprar, todo de primera calidad. Y además tienen comida cocinada por ellas, todo rico y excelente. Muy recomendable. También tienen una cuenta de Instagram con los platos que cocinan, ¡delicioso!

The food is freshly made to order and the sandwich I had was fantastic. The store has other products too like vegetables, beans and home made sweet treats. The lady also provided us with a list of Vegan restaurants to try whilst we were in Bilbao.

Incredible Deli and treats - Edit
Wow, this place is incredible. They have a wide selection of Deli items... we bought the carrot soup, artichoke curry, empanadas and chocolate treats.... And then headed out to a park for a picnic! All super tasty. They also sell bulk grains, craft beers and wines... everything vegan!
