Fantastic. - Edit
Great little restaurant with awesome vibes ☺️ they have like 20 or 30 different flavors of milkshakes, which is wild! Food was awesome (although my bun was a LITTLE stale, which I'll let slide because the flavors were bomb) Perogis were delicious, and the dessert range was unbelievable. We had a hard time only picking a few 😂 When we were ordering, they also asked if we had any allergies, which was incredibly thoughtful.

Strong Hearts has been my favorite since it opened. Great place to grab something healthy or something more American without the cruelty. The milkshakes are the best! Earth Crisis is my go to. I have been going here for so long, now I bring my children and they love it!

Best “chicken” sandwich I ever had - Edit
READ! I’ve only been a vegetarian for 2 years and a vegan for less than half of that - I remember vividly the things I used to eat, and say this is the best “chicken” sandwich I’ve ever had, INCLUDING compared against “reach chicken” from a few years ago.

Everything was delicious! - Edit
We stopped here on both directions of a road trip between IL and ME in October 2022. On our first visit, we got the Sweet Sassy Molassy (AMAZING!) and the Thai Tofu salad (fantastic! and memorable). On the return trip, we had the Texas Tofu (delicious!) and the chicken bacon ranch (also fantastic). On the first visit, we ordered online while driving into town and the food was ready when we arrived. On the second visit, we went in and ordered at the counter. The staff were helpful and very knowledgeable about ingredients in each item. It was busy, but the service was quick. I had gone to college in Syracuse in the late 90s and I wish this restaurant existed back then! The sweet sassy molassy sandwich was particularly superb. The Thai tofu salad was extraordinary. Great sides and excellent value!

Don’t ever talk about breakfast, or do! - Edit
I left a comment on Instagram asking if/when they would bring their full breakfast menu back since they took it away ever since they moved locations and instead of any typed response, they deleted my comment off Instagram, deleted their post boasting about bringing vegan food to Syracuse, and blocked my account.. The hypocrisy is astounding considering that all their shakes used to be named after political influencers who went against the grain throughout history. If you don’t know about the old location, ignorance is bliss, however the owners have since lost their original vision and are now just money hungry capitalists who pretend to care about the community. The food is okay, but I can’t support a company that actively tries to silence their customers instead of just talking to them like the human beings they are. It’s unfortunate that they limit their own potential by not communicating with the community that they boast about providing for. It’s also worth mentioning that they took out almost 400K in PPP loans which they then used to open up a new location in Buffalo instead of making their first location better (could’ve brought back the full breakfast menu) and taking better care of their staff.

Chicken Parm all the way - Edit
Okay. I have a pretty unhealthy obsession with their Chicken Parm Sandwich. It's one of my favourite things ever, and that alone gets them 5 stars from me 🤷🏻♀️ Their cupcakes are great, and their MILKSHAKES are amazing too, oh my gosh. This place is dangerous. A must every time we drive through Syracuse, which is a lot.

Strong Hearts, Not the Strongest Food. - Edit
I have been to Strong Hearts numerous times throughout the past couple of years- went to their old main location once, their old hill location several times and their current spot a handful of times as well (I have not been to their new Buffalo location). I can honestly say that their old location on the hill was amazing, always great service and a great menu with a large to-go fridge section (they also served breakfast).
Read moreUnfortunately I can’t necessarily say the same for their current location. While inside it is honestly beautiful and just incredibly well thought out, I am disappointed in how small their menu has become. So many menu items have been eliminated in the past few months. A lot of the food is overpriced and not worth said price. Each time I go I try something different but I just constantly feel underwhelmed by the food. Last visit I ordered Thanksgiving wings, loaded fries, maple pecan milkshake, and a red velvet cupcake. The Thanksgiving wings and loaded fries were very average and the maple pecan milkshake honestly tasted like vanilla ice cream for the most part. I also got the spicy peanut noodles and the chipotle potato salad from the small grab and go. The peanut noodles were just okay, the potato salad was honestly horrible and I threw it out. I love potato salad and I like spice but that was… not good.
I don’t know, I get that this is a hugely successful place and I can’t discredit them for that. For how long they have been open, especially as a fully vegan restaurant, they have certainly made a name for themselves and I respect that. I think their creativity is strong and I like that their meals are based on non-vegan meals. Desserts can be a hit or miss but when they’re a hit they’re absolutely amazing (I had the red velvet cupcake last time and it was to die for).
I can’t totally write off going again, I just wish some changes would be made. I would love a breakfast menu available again, more weekend specials, and bringing back old menu items or just adding more to the regular menu.
Pros: Interior/atmosphere, Vegan versions of traditional non-vegan meals, Indoor & outdoor seating
Cons: Over-priced, Shortened menu, okay food, Long wait times

I too wish they would bring back the breakfast menu. Unfortunately when I asked them about it on IG they decided to delete my comment and block my social media which was very professional of them.. They’ve gone downhill ever since they moved and expanded

Love Strong Hearts - Edit
I love this place. I always get the Angela Davis (Peanut butter cookie dough) milkshake and the Sweet and Sassy Molassey Sandwich. I've never been disappointed in the cupcakes or desserts either. I always make it a point to go here or the Buffalo location if I'm in the area and I've been petitioning for them to open one in my home state of MA.

Poor Service - Edit
I normally don't leave anything less than a five-star review for a vegan restaurant, as I feel that anyone who opens a vegan restaurant is doing a commendable thing and should be supported. But I visited Strong Hearts five or six times in recent months during road trips, and while the food is good, the service has been declining. There are always three or four young people behind the counter chatting among themselves, but the tables have crumbs on them; the dish return area is overflowing with dirty plates, and there is never a clean drinking glass near the water fountain. On my previous trip, the guy behind the counter was chatting with a couple of other guys, who at first looked like customers but turned out to be his friends. After several minutes, he indicated to them that he had to serve a customer, and they started to leave. The server said "Sorry", and thinking he was apologizing for making me wait, I made a gesture to indicate that all was OK, only to find out that he was apologizing to his friends for having to cut off his conversation with them to serve me. I felt like an idiot. The restaurant owners would do well to hire fewer servers and pay them better. They should also be there in person some of the time to check on whether the staff are doing their jobs and to provide an example of how to deal with customers.
Read moreMy other gripe with this place is that almost all the dishes are named as if they contained animal products. I really don't like having to order a chicken sandwich, since this perpetuates the idea that chickens are food. It would be better to call them "chicken-free", "happy chicken", or even "chik'n" sandwiches.
This restaurant has annoyed me enough that the next time I'm in Syracuse, I'll be looking for another vegan restaurant to support.
Pros: Everything is vegan, Great cupcakes
Cons: Inattentive servers

The only reason to visit Syracuse? - Edit
Besides my family and friends 😋. Have been coming here since they opened on Genesee and the new place is so cool, love seeing them grow. Great food, for comfort, and love the punk rock vibe that still underlies the fancier feel of the new space.

Good all-vegan restaurant - Edit
Found this place while en route to Buffalo, tucked away on a little side street. Terrific menu. I had the Thai salad and it was delicious. Lots of great drinks on the menu too. The only downside to our lunch was that the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up and we had to wait quite a while for our food. They were probably short staffed like every other place is right now.

Great Vegan Place! - Edit
My husband and I stopped in for lunch after a flight in Syracuse. I got the Buffalo kale salad and he got the Buffalo tofu sandwich. We both loved our meals. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Portions were large. The milkshakes were probably the best part! So delicious, definitely save room for one!

They have tons of gluten free options. But the bbq burger I had was not very good. The bun wasn't toasted at all and for gf buns / bread you definitely need to toast / warm / butter the buns to make them taste better. The burger was very dry sauce wise as well.

This place is absolutely awesome. The Reuben is ridiculously good and so is the shawarma. That’s right, shawarma. And it’s delicious. Activism vibe in a college city jives well with this place. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I wish there was a Stone Hearts near me. Whenever I see an empty restaurant space I think, damn, Stone Hearts could open right there.
