Great Food horrible management and service - Edit
Prior to the pandemic even takeaway was a miserable and insulting process. They have gotten much better since at preparing and handing food to customers without too much pain. Still, I would definitely not recommend dining in under any circumstances.

Used to be better - Edit
When Sticky Rice opened, they were one of the only places in the neighborhood providing solid vegan options. I used to come here for the Dirty Vegan bowl all the time. But there's so many more choices on H Street now, and they haven't really innovated much. They do a solid drink menu and tater tots (vegan sauce available), but I'm not as excited to come here as I used to be.

It was good. - Edit
I went into DC, trying to get a meal at Pow Pow. But they were unexpectedly closed for the day. I ended up across the street at Sticky Rice with a couple of friends and it was an OK experience. The portions are huge and we ordered way too much food. The bottom floor of the restaurant is very loud, making it hard to have a conversation. The vegan options are clearly marked and the food seems to be good quality.

Mediocre food at an expensive price - Edit
Got the Veganapore, dirty udon noodles, and some sushi. Loved the quantity of options, but the quality was meh. The dirty udon noodles lacked the spices like peppercorn that could have made it more authentic. Generally dull meal. The Veganapore had a good kick but the heat was overpowering and there was no other flavor. They messed up our sushi order, but whatever they gave us was dry and poorly seasoned. Expensive for mediocre food.

My favorite sushi joint - Edit
I was devastated when the Baltimore location closed, but it's absolutely worth the extra hour drive it takes me to drive down and chow down on the best vegan sushi in existence. I already can't wait to come back and try out more of the huuuuge menu of vegan options.

Great options, delicious food, pricey - Edit
Ordered delivery during Covid times. The total cost was very pricey for the quantity. However, the sushi and dumplings was delicious! There were plenty of vegan options clearly marked on the menu. Some items have mock tuna which was very good, but again pricey. Will order from again.

So.Many.Vegan.Options. - Edit
I've been to Sticky Rice twice now. The first was Summer 2019, and while everything was good, I felt their vegan & gluten free options weren't that extensive. I went back for pickup last night and was so pleasantly surprised their options have grown so much (or maybe my memory was playing tricks on me and they'd been there all along)! I placed my order via their website, went to pick it up 20 minutes after it was supposed to done, and due to technical difficulties on their end, I had to wait about 25 more minutes for my order to be done. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were slammed, and they did apologize. But I guess beware if you order through their website! Anyways, the sushi was some of the best vegan GF I've ever had, and I'll definitely be back!

Not as advertised - Edit
I haven’t been to @stickyricedc in a long time and probably won’t be after tonight’s experience. I was excited to see that they had expanded the #vegan / #vegetarian menu considerably ( #swipeleft ). I use to get the veganzirra sushi but with forbidden rice. I was told that they didn’t carry it anymore. Right there and then I should of left because I really don’t do white rice anymore but I let the manager talk me into trying the pink campfire sushi. He said it was a house favorite. The campfire was sweet potato hash deep fried and piled on top. I was not impressed. Why I didn’t listen to my first instinct, I don’t know but lesson learned. 👎🏾

Not Great - Edit
I love the options they have, and I want any restaurant that has dedicated vegan options to do well. The creative vegan sushi options, in particular, are unparalleled in DC. However, taste-wise everything is just...ok. And to top it off, I found a piece of chicken in my Dirty Vegan dish today, which really turned me off. Granted, this kind of thing is just the risk of eating at a non-vegan place (I’m looking at you chipotle), but it’s still pretty gross since it’s been nearly two decades since I’ve purposefully eaten meat! There are so many other good vegan options on H St. that I’d recommend over this place, unfortunately.

Delicious variety of vegan Asian food - Edit
Tasty food to please vegans, omnis and kids. I loved the vegan soba noodle bowl and the vegan sushis I tried. A few dishes were too oily. Overall, a great dining experience for my family and me.

Super hip and delicious - Edit
Recently visited DC and really loved this place. We had been wanting a unique vegan sushi and this place delivered for sure! It was the best sushi I have ever had - we got the forbidden veganzirra with forbidden black rice. The Dirty Vegan bowl was amazing. Wish I lived in DC, I'd go here all the time!

Many clearly marked vegan and gluten-free options - Edit
Sticky Rice offers many vegan or veganizable options on their menu, including appetizers, noodles, rice dishes, and sushi. As another reviewer noted, this is a great option on H St. for mixed diet groups. I ordered the Mock Chicken Schezuan dish with noodles, which was large enough for 1.5 portions and had good heat to it.

Eating in Harmony - Edit
Searching for a restaurant where both vegans can eat in harmony with everyone else can be a daunting task. Sticky Rice has made it easier.
Read moreMy spouse (not a vegan) and myself (vegan/newbie) were so pleased with Sticky Rice. Although our first attempt at this restaurant was met with a long wait time, and ultimately us dining elsewhere, our Sunday attempt with a reservation was smooth and awesome!
I ordered a bucket of tots with vegan sauce(spicy yet satisfying) and the GardenBalls! Let me say that the bucket of tots, amazing as they were, were not finished at the table and had to be taken home. We both loved the Gardenballs! The flavors tied together very nicely and may just be our new favorite vegan sushi.
My dining parter ordered miso soup, basic but good, and the Szechuan Shrimp bowl. The shrimp bowl serving was hearty and ultimately taken home as well.
Overall, we enjoyed Sticky Rice. Everyone was very friendly and happy to answer any questions!
Oh, did I mention they serve dessert? So exciting! We shall try that next time!
Pros: Vegan and Gluten Free Options, Vegetarian and Non-Veg Options, Great Value and Excellent Staff/Ambience
Cons: You must inquire about the Brunch Menu, You must ask for the dessert menu, Fri. reservations fill up very quickly

Veg Sushi and Tots - Edit
So where else in DC can you score some vegan sushi, stir fry and tater tots??? Yes, this is your go to fix for the aforementioned vegan delights!
Read moreIf you want traditional or healthy, think salad, edamame, seaweed and tofu lettuce wraps. Their stir fry and carb bowls of pick your noodle or rice with varying veggies and proteins are filling, but carb heavy- pair with salad for more veggies.
Request vegan dipping sauce for your tots- yum! The tempura is awesome too, but tofu bites not as satisfying.
Now if you go and don't order sushi- what are you thinking??? They have delicious vegan options like the hot hippy and garden balls, along with tempura sweet potato and avocado in some sushi. So good!!
I love this place but hate how sometimes the wait is long. On weekends, they do brunch which tends to be more vegetarian than vegan friendly, but you can still order tots and sushi. Yay for vegan sushi!
Pros: Vegan sushi, Vegan tots, Vegan tempura veggies
Cons: Tend to over eat with many choices, Crowded
