Conflicted - Edit
It's great that they have a vegetarian & vegan menu section. I went with an omni group. The views from restaurant are beautiful. But...the food was meh & overpriced

Good and convenient - Edit
If you’re looking for vegan options along the waterfront, this place does have clear vegan options. I got the cauliflower steak and it was good enough.

They open at 4:30 for dinner. Vegan menu looks good but I’ll be back on my cruise ship by then.

Surprising find on Avalon. - Edit
Avalon can be old school surf and turf. Iean, even the salad options are all meat or fish! We were surprised to walk by Steve's Steakhouse and find a whole section of the menu devoted to vegetarian and vegan dishes. Real dishes, not stripped down versions of the meat ones.
Read moreI had the cauliflower steak. Very good. Wife had the clam chowder (she eats fish) and really loved it. Good service, nice atmosphere. Will go back.
Pros: Separate section of vegetarian options, Good variety, Nice upscale restaurant
Cons: A bit pricey, $68 for two including a cocktail

The only real option on the island - Edit
I had the cauliflower steak. It came with sweet potato fries and asparagus. It was good. The food came really quick, probably because it was a slow night. They have a small vegan/vegetarian menu with some nice options. There is no other place I found on the island that had this.

Separate Vegan/Vegetarian Menu! - Edit
They have plenty of options to choose from and have their vegan vs. vegetarian options listed clearly. I tried the cauliflower steak which came with their special vegan sauce and vegan cheese (was not impressed with the sauce, I would of liked a little less and no cheese). The sides were sweet potato fries and asparagus (fries were fine however they only gave me three pieces of asparagus, wish I could of had more asparagus and less fries). The meal was filling and satisfactory. I don’t know if I would go back for this dish in particular, however I would enjoy trying their other options (vegan burgers etc…)

They actually have a lot of options here - Edit
Was surprised to see a whole menu of vegan options! We had the cauliflower steak with vegan cheese and I’d have to say it wasn’t bad! They put some cheese on cauliflower basically lol so not a whole lot of creativity but it was still tasty. Best part about this place is THE VIEW! Come early before the dinner rush (6:30ish) and secure a spot overlooking the main Avalon strip by the beach 😎

Vegans go to a steakhouse lol - Edit
We loved that of all places on the island for dinner, Steve’s had the most vegan options. And they were clearly labeled VEGAN. We tried the chipotle black bean burger and the cauliflower steak. Both came with sweet potato French fries. They were both ok, nothing that I would care to have twice.

Cons: Not my type of scene, a lot of drunk people

Great impossible burger - Edit
The Impossible Burger here is excellent and huge. It's vegan by default and comes with vegan mayo, great fries, and a pickle. The side order of fries is massive of you're really hungry. Ask for a table with a view, it's worth the wait.

Nice to have vegan options - Edit
Ordered the impossible burger - which now seems to be a pretty standard and safe $15 vegan option at a lot of places. It was fine. More fries would have been nice. My non-vegan partner ordered a $15 caprese salad that was laughable - if it wasn’t so expensive- literally four slices of (not great) tomato with a couple of bits of cheese.

Cons: Nothing special/ except not too many alternatives, Seems overpriced

Vegan in a Steakhouse! 😯 - Edit
It felt a bit strange going to eat in a Steakhouse but this place is really nice! We had a great view of the harbour, the staff were really friendly and they have a great vegan menu. I had the homemade black bean burger and it was delicious.

Only Vegan spot on the island! - Edit
I was met with disappointment at every restaurant on catalina island regarding vegan options, i was about to give up when i saw that Steve's Steakhouse has a WHOLE VEGAN MENU!
Read moreSteve has for us a black bean burger, an impossible burger, a spaghetti squash pasta and a vegetable platter. This restaurant has more vegan food than all the restaurants on the island COMBINED! If your going to Catalina you absolutely must come to Steve's Steakhouse, it is located upstairs above Maggie's Blue Rose. Food was delicious and filling and thier service is top notch 10 out of 10 i would definitely recommend that you come here.

A real gem! - Edit
We are vegans and thanks to Happy Cow we found Steve’s. We were greeted with a vegan menu and very friendly staff. Steve came by and made us feel very comfortable. The view is amazing and so is the food!! We will definitely go back to try the other vegan options!
