Trendy coffee place, but the coffee is sour - Edit
I live in North Berwick. This is a trendy coffee shop with an onsite coffee roastery. When inside, it feels like you could be in a coffee shops in some up and coming cool Manhattan district.
Read moreThis really is a place for coffee and cake. They used to have savoury lunchtime options a while back, but in recent times it’s just cake and then the occasional pop up food van parked outside on their terrace. The vegan cake option is banana bread. It is tasty and has chocolate chips and pecan nuts, so it is good.
I never normally have a coffee there because it always tastes sour. I chatted with the owner about this once and she said some people find the coffee sour as a result of their approach to roasting the beans. They only lightly roast them, which means the coffee can taste sour. I always go for a Chai Oat Latte, which is made with a syrup, but I think it tastes really good.

The coffee was great and their banana bread (with choc chunks) was delish! Very nice outside seating area and rustic-chic interior.

Went for tea and cake - Edit
Nice place just off the high street with indoor and outdoor seating available. They have soya and oat milk and some vegan lunch options. I had the vegan chocolate banana cake which was big enough to share, good value for £2.50 and tasted good. My partner had a coffee, it "tasted good but was quite small".

okay - Edit
Not a lot of options in North Berwick. The vegan choice was stew or soup, no sandwich and not a lot of interest in trying to accommodate me.
Read moreWent for the stew which was very healthy, just lacking.
They did have a vegan cake but didn't try it as was on a hike.
If it was in a city I wouldn't make the effort, but in North Berwick it's fine.
Vegan soup and two vegan cakes, I'm. Not skinny.
Back again and had a mushroom.sandwich which was fine. A great coffee shop.
Pros: vegan options, cake
Cons: staff a bit too busy

Wonderful coffee, delicious cake - Edit
I only popped in for a take away coffee, a beautiful soy milk flat white. I doesn't get a proper look at the menu as I was distracted by the cake counter. There wee huge slices of vegan banana bread, it was beautiful and moist. Writing about it, I want more!

I could live here - Edit
If I lived in North Berwick this would be my second home, poor Cath. The Coffee is awesome, the food is wonderful for Vegans and there is a really hip and beatnik atmosphere.
Read moreThe owner also really cares about the environment, so there are always little things to purchase to make you greener!!! Get your 'Keep Cup" to reduce that carbon footprint.
They even do Vegan Gluten Free Flapjacks.
A MUST if you are in North Berwick.
Forgot to mention that you can buy Ailey Mae's Vegan chocolate bars and hot chocolate here....Both are awesome!
Pros: EVERYTHING, Did I mention GF Vegan Flapjacks!!!, Environmentally conscious

Great café - Edit
It has lots of very tasty vegan options but a bit pricey for the portion size you get when you order savoury food. Menu changes regularly as they are trying out different vegan options. Great atmosphere and always friendly service! Best coffee you can get!

Surprised to find really good vegan cake - Edit
Me and my partner went to North Berwick for a day trip and to Steampunk as a recommendation for good coffee, which it really was. Was very presently surprised to find a couple of vegan cake options. We had both a chocolate chip cookie and banana bread between the 2 of us. Both were really great, particularly like the banana bread very moist with lots of dates, pecans and spices. There were also a soup and stew on the menu labelled as vegan, did not get to try these but will do next time I'm in North Berwick.
