Conscious of Changing dining habits

State Hill offers a great selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free menu items. Seems they're really trying to be conscious of current food trends and dietary restrictions.

Great Atmosphere...Vegan Struggles

I want to preface this this by saying that I try not to judge new spots too harshly since I understand that it takes a while for things to get up and running. I do intend to give this place a second chance since the atmosphere/bar area are great, and it's clear that they're attempting to have vegan options on the menu.
That being said...
I ordered the Impossible Burger, which was already marked vegan on the menu. When it came to the table, the fries appeared to have non-vegan cheese on them (even though the burger had vegan cheese). I asked the server, and he indicated that I never mentioned that I was "fully vegan" (??), so he didn't realize that I couldn't have the non-vegan cheese fries. This seemed like a training/kitchen issue, since I'd normally hope that ordering an item marked vegan on the menu would allow me to safely assume that it would arrive vegan. The waiter offered to bring me new fries, but was agreeable when I asked to have the full plate sent back. The burger itself was underseasoned or maybe not seasoned at all, and the bun was wildly dry (I'm thinking it might have been GF??). Overall, not impressed.
As I said previously, I'll probably give them a few months to get things up and running and sort out the kinks before visiting again... and I would definitely try something different off the menu...there were two vegan pasta options that sounded great, but I will give them another shot just based on the atmosphere alone and will gladly update this post when I do.

Pros: Great Atmosphere , Multiple vegan options noted on the menu

Cons: Inconsistencies between menu and execution

I noticed they have a mushroom pasta marked vegan, but it is made with an egg pasta. This is the former Santino's.

Ahhh that's frustrating to hear...I almost ordered that pasta dish instead of the burger and wouldn't have even thought to ask what was in the actual pasta since the dish is actually labeled vegan. Glad you found out!

Your experience with the fries on the vegan burger was a training issue. All vegan burgers should be served with vegan fries that omit the cheese and are cooked in a dedicated fryer for vegan foods only. As for the bun, we're still looking for the perfect vegan bun that isn't also gluten free (which may come off as dry).

Also, the vegan pastas are 100% vegan. We do not use egg in our mix. We use pasta grade semolina flour and water for every pasta on the menu. In the case of the umami pasta, we add porcini powder to the mix, and the vegan cream is cashew based. All pasta is made in house.

I apologize that your first experience with us was unsatisfactory and hope you'll give us another chance in the future.

Great news, and I love the porcini powder and cashew cream. We will come over!
