I had the vegetable curry and veggie samosas. There were a few veggie/vegan options the staff spoke English so it was easy to clarify things on the menu.

Vegan set meal - Edit
They have a vegan set meal, which is good! 3 curries (mostly sauce and lentils rather than veggies), a samosa, popadom, large turmeric rice and a tea. It’s 2000 yen, for the set. Would recommend!

Good spot - Edit
This place has a lot of seating. There’s 3 menu items that can be made vegan. The samosas, rice, and Dahl curry. I think there may be one more item but I forget. It was delicious😄

Didn't live up to the hype - Edit
After reading the previous reviews, I had some expectations for this place and unfortunately I was disappointed.
Read moreMaybe the staff has changed, but this time around the server wasn't particularly friendly.
I ordered the set of two samosas and the Vegetarian Curry. I specifically asked if the curry was vegan, and the waiter confirmed it was. Apparently, it also accompanied a drink and ice cream, which I didn't realize until it was too late. While this is partly my fault, the waiter, armed with the knowledge that I specifically asked for a vegan dish, brought me dairy ice cream anyway.
The samosas were good, but a little pricy (almost 600 yen for 2 pieces?). The curry tasted fine. The presentation could've been better, though. Maybe because the plates they use are pretty large, it gave the impression that there wasn't much food on the plate. I'm still not sure if the portion was small or the plate too large. Either way, it wasn't a great impression.
I didn't have a good experience here, so I would recommend people go to La Quinua (Peruvian-Mexican food) or Vegetus Sara (Japanese food), which are all within walking distance to each other. Vegan options at Indian/Sri Lankan/Nepali restaurants are easy to come by wherever you go, so you can easily skip this place.

Great dinner! - Edit
First night in Kagoshima, decided to try Sri Lanka Kagoshima. I ordered and then 5 minutes later the owner came to me and asked if I was vegan as one dish I ordered contained fish broth and he said he could make it without the broth. Nice customer care! Also the portion sizes were great! Coming from Tokyo I was very surprised how large the portions were!

We arrived there on Christmas day and had one of our favourite meals in Japan so far. The man serving was very friendly and spoke good English. We had papadoms, samosa, vegetable curry and Devilled Tofu (sooo good).

This saved me on a night in Kagoshima where we'd exhausted seemingly the only Japanese place in the area that caters for vegans the previous night.

Delicious Sri Lankan Food with Plenty of Vegan Options - Edit
The owner is very friendly, the staff understand what vegan is and there are lots of vegan options on the menu. I had the samosas and the coconut tofu curry which was absolutely delicious! Really flavourful food, I would definitely recommend this place! I wish I had spent longer in Kagoshima to be able to come back and try other dishes. 5 Stars!

Delicious & Inexpensive vegan food - Edit
The staff was extremely accommodating to our vegan dietary constrictions and spoke good English. We were served potato and eggplant curries, dahl, carrot salad and naan bread which they made especially vegan. All were very delicious. The best vegan food we had whilst staying in Kagoshima.

Best samosas - Edit
The yummiest samosas I've had amazing pastry. Light and flakey without being oily. A light but tasty filling. The eggplant and potato curry was also yummy. They understood the vegan thing. They advised there is butter in the rice and suggested roti instead.

Good Sri Lankan Food - Edit
We went to this place, having wandered around the area to try to find it (or the Me Gusta one). We eventually noticed the Sri Lankan flag up high so look out for that. The food was lovely. You can choose from a few vegetarian items from their general menu or go for the vegetable set menu which is what we did. It was great! We were put in the non-smoking area, much appreciated. The hours are something like 6pm to 11.30pm, we were there on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy. Thanks, guys!

Yummy food and friendly staff - Edit
I've eaten here a few times and on all of the occasions the staff have been very accommodating and were happy to prepare the vegan version of what I ordered. It can be tricky at times finding vegan food in Japan, especially Kagoshima, so I have always enjoyed going here and I definitely recommend it to everyone! The staff are very friendly and speak Japanese and English. The menus are also in English. Nice vibe here too!

Best Vegan Food in Kagoshima - Edit
Sri Lanka is a charming restaurant in the central restaurant/shopping area of Tenmonkan. The vegetarian lunch set (which is or can easily be made vegan) is especially good value. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the vegetarian Sri Lankan owner speaks some English. While Me Gusta cafe (very close by) is good for a quick lunch or snack, Sri Lanka is the place to go for a good meal out in Kagoshima.
