Delicious buffet - Edit
A relatively new spot in Amsterdam. We loved their buffet! It has plenty of vegan options (the place itself is vegetarian, but a large part of their offer is vegan). They even have vegan ice cream!
Read moreIt works like this: you pick a plate, take all the food you want and then pay per weight (€2.95/100g for eat-in lunch & dinner). Just be careful, because it's quite expensive and you can be surprised (not in a very good way) to see your final bill.
Other than the price, everything was perfect!
Pros: Delicious buffet with plenty of options, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Pricey, Pay per weight concept

Damn fine in Amsterdam - Edit
This is an outstanding vegetarian restaurant. The selection at the buffet is extensive and every dish I tried--about 8 or 9--was delicious. One young women kept coming back to the dessert bar, if that's any indication. The pay by weight system means this is not inexpensive; if you have bread and a coffee and something more than water to drink you'll be in around 25-30 Euros per person. But the food is superb, the restaurant is big enough to handle a crowd (I was there on a Saturday evening and found a seat immediately), it's not far from the train station in the much quieter Eastern Docklands--and the service depends on you. Highly recommended.

Good Spirit - Edit
I like the spacious but still cozy atmosphere. The food is great, a lot of choice. And yes, don't come in starving or you will spend a fortune.

good food but extremely expensive - beware!!! - Edit
As the other reviewers mentioned this place good quality food and an immense variety which sets it apart from other vegan restaurants in Amsterdam. However, please beware of the pricing scheme. You don't know how much your plate will cost until you reach the counter and they weigh your plate. Please be prepared to pay somewhere around €30 for your plate. The first time I came here the bill was around €35 including the water I had purchased. The second time where I thought I chose 'lighter' food the bill was close to €40 for ONE plate. Since I got burned twice I just simply can't return to this place. However, you may try to see how light you can make your plate during checkout...maybe you will have better luck than I did.

modern and spacious - Edit
This restaurant is fresh and modern. As other reviewers have mentioned, the food is of a very high quality for a buffet style restaurant. There is a good vegan choice with interesting dishes and sauces. My only reservation is the price as our meals were rather expensive and you don't find the price out until your plate is weighed.

The spirit of the people - Edit
Ultra modern and minimalist premises near the Brouwerij T'Ij windmill. You pay by weight here so don't even think of going if you are absolutely starving. The vegan choice here is absolutely phenomenal. Dozens of hot and cold dishes from which to choose. All my favourite such as tofu , seitan, tempeh, potatoes and aubergine were very well represented. We paid around €50 for drinks, soup and bread and a plate of food from the buffet. It's not cheap but the quality is quite astonishing.

fine full veggie and beers and wines - Edit
The newly opened fullveggie buffet restaurant is a gem. It is open every day of the week from 8.00 till 22.00 hrs. There is an abundant choice of salads, hot dishes, bread, soups and what have you, from European to sushi and dishes with a Dutch colonial touch. Good choice of wines and beers too. Decent prices. Let’s say about 12 euro for a hot meal. Pleasant staff, bright and light spacious restaurant.

Awesome veggie/vegan spot in Amsterdam - Edit
This place has it all! It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (or coffee with cake in between). Tons of veggie and vegan choices. Ingredients listed per dish so you know exactly what you're putting in your mouth. Lots of space to sit. And the possibility to take out. I'm in love!

OMG Finally! - Edit
I'm so glad I no longer have to treck all the way to Rotterdam to eat at the amazing Spirit. Spirit is my favourite restaurant of the Netherlands and now it's finally opened its Amsterdam location and it's well worth the wait.
Read moreSpirit is vegetarian but goes out of its way to make sure that everything that can be vegan is vegan, so you're looking at around 70-80% of everything being vegan and everything is clearly marked with allergens etc. It's also 100% organic bio, which is pretty impressive!
Spirit is set up as a huge buffet, with more than 50 dishes at any one time and every single one of them is delicious. You grab a plate, fill it up and then pay by weight. I think a lot of people think buffets aren't going to be great quality food but Spirit is the exception that proves the rule! All the dishes are fresh and are never left to get dried out or overdone.
It's a crazy mix of food styles, lots of asian, some italian, bit of dutch, whatever they feel like but rest assured it's all awesome. They do breakfast till 11am and if you're there in time for it, you MUST get the almond waffles, they're the best in town.
For the lunch and dinner menu they have the massive buffet but also a soup station, a lot of puddings (including two mousses) and a separate ice cream bar (which is all vegan). There's a bar with a good selection of vegan wines and beers too, if you're into that sort of thing,
It's amazing that Amsterdam now has a fancy restaurant that has so many choices for vegans and if you've never been, you should get there STAT!
Pros: Delicious food, huge range, lovely decor
Cons: bit pricey maybe
