Bad staff - Edit
The food was ok. Very greesy but some of the food available was food (the falafels were the best). The summer rolls were very hard, definitly not fresh. Very expensive and the staff was rude and didn’t seem like they wanted to be there nor help the clients.

Good food, but very expensive - Edit
Loved the buffet with so many choices! This is a great place if you, like me, go with a large group with different food allergies and dietairy requirements. There is something for everyone.
Read moreI just wish the restaurant would include a scale at the buffet, allowing you to get an indication of the price before you head to the cash register. When I asked the staff about the pricing, she told me it is about €30 per kilogram. This might not seem like a lot but we all had at least 600 - 700 grams and ended up paying €20+ euro per plate. It made sense that we weren't allowed to put stuff back in the buffet, but putting a scale at the buffet would have helped us make better decisions, and perhaps even go back for a second round.
I would say that the friendliness of the staff needs some improvement. They seemed uninterested in their customers, but then again it is a buffet so I guess service isn't their main focus. The food was good so if you have some extra money to spend and looking for lots of veggie options, this is the place for you!
Pros: Good food, Lots of seating
Cons: Expensive (not able to weigh food before you pay), Staff seemed uninterested in guests

LOVE IT - Edit
We went here twice during our stay in Amsterdam. The food was absolutely delicious, and so many vegan options! We were amazed by the shiitake stake and the passion fruit-chocolate crumble dessert - wow!
Read moreYou pay by weight, my turned out a bit pricey but that's most likely my own fault for not being able to contain myself and having a little bit of everything :)
Worth a visit!

Heavenly and vast array of vegan and vegetarian food - Edit
My spouse and I who have been vegan since 1991 and 1990 respectively just tried SPIRIT. We heard about it by word of mouth and it may well have become my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. The food choices for vegans and vegetarians is vast and delicious. It is an enormous buffet that you pay for by weight. They have such an array that any vegan will be in seventh heaven. The pictures they have on their website definitely do not do the food justice, for we heaped our plates with the most delicious and imaginative food. They have vegan sushi that was just fantastic. They have vegan spring rolls that were scrumptious. They have seitan steak that was yummy. They had tofu curry...they have chocolate raspberry cake that was decadent ... they have waffles,,,and so on and so forth. The atmosphere is lovely and they have outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is harder to find vegan breakfast and so we are excited to try it soon. My spouse and I will go again and again. If you go, you will not be disappointed.

Really good vegan/vegetarian buffet - Edit
Lots of excellent, well marked, vegan options in the extensive buffet. The mushroom "steak" was incredible. But my big plate of food was all really good. And tbe vegan desserts in the buffet were also way yummy.
Read morePlenty of seating.
The buffet is charged by weight. I was super hungry, and, with bread (which was very good, but charged extra) and tea (also very good), it cost me €27 for my huge plate of excellent food.
Pros: Lots of really good vegan options
Cons: Pricey

Great vegetarian buffet - Edit
It is very nice place with a lot of variety of meals. Everything is fresh and tasty. Also I like that the ingredients are written next to the meal . For 2 big plates I paid 20 euro and I think it is reasonable price for this food. The only thing I find a bit strange - there are plenty of meals with tofu and tempeh and different veggies, but no meals with beans .

the best - a pleasure to eat here - Edit
Predominantly vegan but be careful a few dishes and desserts have eggs. Items are marked and show ingredients. No meat in kitchen. Read the ingredients to double check. Mostly organic delicious food. Asian, Dutch, continental. Not spicy although sauces are available. Loved the falafel. Everything is wonderful in taste, health and Ingredients. Daily buffet with salads and hot food. Offers choice of four soups on side coffee and juice bar. Peaceful clean place with good ambiance. Plenty of seats. I am hooked and would love to go every week. Price for buffet is 30 euros a kilo so can be pricey but well worth it. Shares door with a health organic food coop. Good to shop. Do go, support quality and enjoy.

Spirit in Amsterdam! - Edit
Finally we can enjoy the Spirit restaurant not only in Rotterdam but also in Amsterdam! Amazing place!!! Everything is vegetarian and I think about 80% is also vegan. It is a buffet: you can take whatever you want and they weigh the food to get the price. It is very nice, but it is more expensive than the one in Rotterdam (because the rent of the building in Rotterdam is lower) which is absolutely a shame! The food is really good, but the taste quality is not Always as stable as the one in Rotterdam. But vegetarian and vegan foodlovers should absoltely visit this food walhalla! There is lot's of vegan pastry, vegan ice cream (also in buffet style). And in this place there is a really great bio grocery shop (called Odin). There are lot's of seats (inside and outside seating and possibility to reserve also for large groups). Hygienic place, professional. You can parc your car for free in their car parking the first hours if you scan the ticket at the paydesk of the restaurant).

Not a month goes by in which I do not visit this place: the food is amazing. Salads, soups, lots of vegan meatsubs, etc. But also the desserts are to die for. So many options for vegans including pies, chocomousse, ice-cream. I cannot imagine someone does not like to eat here!

Highly recommended - Edit
It is impossible to create a modest plate of food: first time I ate here, I ate too much because I wanted to taste everything. The second time my plate was less full. But still... there are so many options! The food is good and the desertbar is even better :-)

great food - Edit
Lots of of choice of truly delicious things, most of them vegan! Very very yumy, lots of original dishes I haven't seen elsewhere. Lovely space, light and airy, friendly staff. Not cheap, around 20€ per person for a full plate (pay by weight), but its totally justified considering the choice and quality of the food. I would recommend it for sure :)

Love it! - Edit
"Spirit" in Rotterdam is one of my favorite restaurants in The Netherlands, and I just added the Amsterdam branch to this list. They have so many delicious vegan options that I find it extremely difficult to make a choice. Also during my first visit of "Spirit" in Amsterdam I ended up with a huge plate full of a bunch of very different delicious things trying desperately to keep them a bit separated to preserve the original taste. And of course there needs to be room for the delicious desserts! The location is also nice, from some windows you have a great view on a traditional windmill (with a brewery inside!). The staff is very friendly and helpful, too.
