no vegan options - Edit
The staff were friendly, but there aren't really any vegan options. I had a focaccia and salad, the vegan options are not shown on the menu, for the salad I had to ask them to serve it without animal products. There are definitely better places for vegans in Alicante

I was very disappointed with my experience here based on what I had seen on previous reviews stating that there were vegan options.
Read moreThere were no vegan options listed on the menu, only a few vegetarian ones. Service was quite unfriendly as well. When I asked for the allergen menu, stating I was vegan, our server impatiently said "we don't have much for vegans" in a very brusque manner, without offering to adapt any dishes. I found the service to be quite rude and unfriendly in general.
The only dishes that I was able to adapt to make vegan was the Sicilian salad and the vegetarian pizza, by omitting the cheese. Even then, when I asked about whether the pizza crust contained dairy products, our server said "minimal" but seemed to imply that no dairy ingredients were used in the recipe - I assume she meant that it may contain traces of dairy (so avoid if you have a dairy allergy).
The salad and vegetarian pizza without cheese were still quite tasty. However, you can definitely find much better vegan food in Alicante and I wouldn't recommend coming here.

The pappardelle tartufo is not vegan anymore. It now has cream and cheese in it. I had the pasta last year and it was delicious, was looking forward to getting it again:/

I love this place! The pasta there was so delicious and the portion was huge, definitely recommend. It is a good idea to book in advance since it's very full in the evening.

The menu online had way more options for vegans than the menu we were handed. Had the mushroom truffle pasta, it was ok, but seriously lacked salt. We were able to modify the bruschetta to have as a starter, it was fine but not great. Service was fine and its an ok place to eat if eating in a group

Lovely little Italian - Edit
Really atmospheric Italian nestled in the bustling back streets of Alicante, super friendly staff, good amount of vegetarian and vegan options and they are happy to modify dishes if need be. I had the spaghetti with tomorrow and chilli and it was delicious, lovely fresh garlic bread too - I meant to take photos of my meal before I started it but I was hungry and it looked really good. This is one I’d happily come back to.

Ein schönes italienisches Restaurant, welches bereits ab 12:30 Uhr geöffnet hat. Die Auswahl veganer Speisen begrenzt sich auf drei. Wenn man bei Bruschetta Classic den Parmesan weglässt kommt man auf 4. Der Preis für die Nudeln ist angemessen, der für die Bruschetta allerdings in keinem Szenario.

Vegan options / Willing to cater for vegans - Edit
We had some lunch at Spiga which was really enjoyable and tasty. There are a couple of vegan pasta dishes on the menu (highlighted as Vegan) and they were also happy to prepare a Marinara pizza with rocket and olives. Food was top notch, as was the service.

Read moreThere were two other options, aglio e olio and arrabbiata which I got. I started with a tomato pizza bread which was okay. The pasta was over seasoned and lacked any bite. The tomato sauce had cherry tomatoes in which was nice touch.
My two star is based on the limited options. As with any Italian it takes very little to creat vegan options and there are plenty of vegan options that would appeal to meat eaters as well. I asked about the pasta, the fresh pasta does include egg but the basics like penne and spaghetti do not. Friendly staff. If you fancy a bowl of pasta this is a decent option. If you want to have some choice this isn’t for you.

The options for vegans were limited, but the pasta dish that was available was very good (creamy mushroom sauce). Good beer and wine options. Pizza available for milk-eating friends (please do a vegan one!)

Visited Alicante in a large group, most of whom aren't vegan, so Spiga was a fair compromise. Three decent vegan pasta options available, I had the pappardelle and the bruschetta, both of which were very nice. Definitely worth a visit if the dedicated vegan and vegetarian restaurants aren't open

In the menu there are 3 vegan options for pasta. However after we asked waiter, if there is egg in the ribbon pasta, waiter told us that their fresh pasta contain eggs. He told us that we can order truffle pasta with panne or spaghetti cause these two do not contain egg. We will never come back to this restaurant again.

Food tastes fresh and is really good. Pasta is perfectly al dente. I had the penne arrabiata and the tomato sauce is good. Not as spicy as you'd expect but still savory. Service just the right amount of attentiveness. Check in periodically but not overbearing. Nice outside seating area in between buildings so plenty of shade on a hot day.
