Pub for Lunch in Downtown GR

SpeakEZ Lounge is a laid-back bar in downtown Grand Rapids. Uniquely, it resembles more of a pub than an American dinner. With its soccer (football) attire smattered throughout, and its woodworked booths, SpeakEZ Lounge feels more reminiscent of a European eatery.

As far as food, there are some tasty options. We had the BBQ Korean Tofu Bowl and the Vegan Crunch Wrap. The BBQ Korean was impeccable sauce; however, I was expecting a stir fry, and instead it was more of a Buddha Bowl. Not a bad thing, just be aware. The rice and veggies tasted fresh.

The crunchwrap was flavorful and some of the best texture facsimile of beef I have ever had. The downside was that it tasted dry because of a lack of sauce on it. I would recommend getting a side of your favorite sauce with this meal.

There is a small stage set-up for bands to play, that I am sure gets grooving on weekends. And there are TVs that draw a crowd during soccer matches - a sport that is lacking representation in the GR pub scene.

SpeakEZ is a nice, quaint, pub to get lunch at if you are downtown with some solid vegan choices.

Bland

Kind of bland but some hot sauce made it better. Would go back with non-vegan friends as it’s a fine option. Just not date material food

subpar vegan options

has a few options, not exactly plentiful however.
got the plain(er) stir fry as the stir fry which looked like it was actually planned out on the menu wasn't able to be made vegan.
it was pretty much soupy rice with battered tofu - and i mean soupy because it was drowning in this sauce.

but of corse that's what you get for ordering an item with no description and only the name Stir Fry at a bar

they have a vegan chai cake as well and the cake itself had decent flavor and was okay warmed up, but it's sauce was just not good, luckily i could scrape it off.

definetly a place for non herbivores

Pros: decent cake

Cons: limited options , not great flavors

Vegan brunch and dinner options

I always suggest this place when dining with non vegans. There are options on the brunch and dinner menu. The food is always a huge hit too, it is extremely creative and not the usual vegan options. They used to have a ramen dish that I ordered multiple times. Both the brunch options are amazing as well. Very flavorful and a wide variety of drink options too.

Pros: Always had vegan options

lots of options

Had plenty of vegan options. They also had a terrific brunch. A bit on the oily side but really good. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. They have music on certain nights

Nice quiet place

This restaurant is in the same location as the Cambridge House, now with new owners. Love the available parking and great food. I was told that they will be updating their vegan menu soon (as of 9-2-12), and adding more choices. I highly recommend the chickpea mash (if you are sharing, lot's of garlic) and the mushroom menage. I don't care for mushrooms and I love this. There is a vegetarian version with butter and cheese, so be sure and ask for the vegan version if you are vegan. We usually go in the afternoon's for a few drinks and appetizers, so I'm not sure how busy the nights are. Cocktails seem small and pricey but beer selection is good. Friendly staff willing to chat and answer questions about the food and drinks. Reasonable prices, 8-12 dollars.

Pros: Mushroom menage, Parking, Quiet in the afternoon

Cons: mixed drinks small
