Separate Vegan Menu! - Edit
S&P Oyster Co. provides a separate menu for vegan options and not just one or two options, but a number of selections. They have their own parking lot which is a benefit in a generally difficult location where there is limited parking. Also on top of all this the location is beautiful right on the river.

Cons: Reservations are a must, busy tourist area.

A pleasant surprise - Edit
We were pleasantly surprised to see that this seafood restaurant had a separate vegan section on the menu. Lots of options. I had the rice noodles, which were delicious. And the view was fabulous!

Vegan Menu with Charming Views - Edit
S&P is right in the heart of Mystic Downtown, next to the draw bridge. A very charming spot along the Mystic River. It has an entirely vegan menu section with 6 vegan entrees, 3 sides, and 1 dessert.

Absolutely loved the views of the river! We ordered the vegan steamed bao buns, vegan vegetable burger, and the wild mushroom bolognese.
- Steamed buns were delicious! They were packed with flavor and actually kind of spicy.
-The burger was a miss for us, kind of bland and tzatziki being vegan was questionable. We even asked our server who in advance who reassured us its vegan. Still not convinced. See below.
- Mushroom Bolognese was really savory and yummy.
Overall, loved the location!! Food was solid, wish there were protein options. I will admit, we did not feel great after eating here. It could be cross contamination or just bad timing with something else we ate. Willing to try this place again since it is probably the best option for veg and non-veg to share a nice meal together in the area. For now, I will rate 3 out 5. Will change to a 4 if we have better luck next time!
Restaurant has its own parking lot, which is a huge plus. Reservations highly recommended in advance, especially to sit right near the water outside, which is reservations only.

Not a family friendly environment! - Edit
As a long time customer when visiting the area (we have family here) this is the first time back with our baby (16 months). When we went to go have dinner we were told that they do not have high chairs nor booster seats. And we were not allowed to bring in our (extremely compact) stroller. So our child, who eats a full meal, would have no place to sit while dining. Unfortunately this will be the last time we ever go to and our local friends and family won’t be either. We just thought others should know that this is not a family friendly establishment.

Lovely fancy vegan food - Edit
Has separate vegan menu. I got the veggie tacos & they were very well crafted. I plan on coming back to try more of the vegan menu. Lots of windows so almost every table has a amazing view of the mystic River! I recommend upstairs seating for the best view.

Great find! Large separate vegan menu, delicious vegan food with water view. - Edit
Super substantial separate vegan menu. I got the wild mushroom bolognese, my fiancé got the vegetable polenta and the roasted butternut squash. It was so delicious, all while looking at a beautiful view of the water.
Read moreWe found this place after a big disappointment at Mystic Pizza, they do not have vegan pizza nor cheese, so glad we decided to not “make do “with french fries at Mystic but explored further.
And her bill only ended up being like $79 for three people, with one martini and extra side dishes.

Vegan menu w/ a vegan dessert that wasn’t sorbet! - Edit
Loved the separate vegan menu with some inventive dishes. I had the rocket salad followed by the polenta. The vegan dessert is a smooth, creamy chocolate mousse lined with fresh strawberries. Decadent and delish!

Delicious Vegan Choices - Edit
Love the fact they have a whole menu dedicated to vegans. Tried the dish everyone was raving about and it was delicious. The polenta reminded me of grits and it was sweet just like I like my grits. The seasoned vegetables were so delicious which made it savory and sweet.

How to act like a Mystic tourist, if only for one day - Edit
The newspaper local to SE CT, The Day, ran a January 2019 article not about the restaurant in general, but specifically about its newly initiated vegan menu. Living 15 miles away, I duly put this fancy eatery on my list of 1001 restaurants to visit before I die. Yet, view its sparse Vegan sub-menu online, and you’ll see that aside from the 2 salads there are only 6 dishes, 3 sides, and 1 dessert. That’s hardly more than you’d expect to find at any other restaurant that does not build up such high expectations. Hey, Oyster Guys, at first I decided that I likely would die with this clam shack still on my to-do list.
Read moreNot until April of 2022 did a non-vegan friend and I decide that it was time to die, or I mean, time to check out that Vegan sub-menu. We arrived at 2pm on a weekday during non-tourist season and innocently expected to be seated. Instead we were politely informed that without advance reservations our wait to be seated would take up to half an hour. Non-resolute, we decided to sit that one out, and instead ate on the cheap at Karma Kitchen just down the block.
Four months later, during the summer when downtown Mystic descends into one eternal traffic jam, a vegan friend and I were more resolute. We made advance reservations, again for 2pm on a weekday, intending afterwards to see a film at the quaint Mystic Cinema. Whereas a line of hungry people lacking reservations again was waiting outside the restaurant, we were immediately and very efficiently ushered in by the alert and attentive waitstaff. So if you plan to eat here, be sure to make reservations!
And be sure to wait for when the weather allows for seating on the outdoor patio surrounded by an array of flowering plants abuzz with hummingbirds and sparrows. And from the patio, you can view the tourists parading along the drawbridge, walking faster afoot than the car traffic jam inching alongside them. And did I say that there’s a vegan menu to be had here? The food is unique even for vegan cuisine, it meets my own high nutritional standards (no fried foods here and no mock meats here, mock foods that make a mockery of veganism), tastes good, and is elegantly presented. But don’t dine here just for the food. Dine here also for the tourist-mecca Mystic experience, and for the satisfaction of knowing that the reality of veganism has infiltrated even the upper echelons of high society.
Pros: Its whole-foods vegan sub-menu, The attentive and informative waitstaff, The flower gardens on the patio and outside
Cons: Location in traffic-clogged tourist-mecca Mystic

Delicious! - Edit
Has a separate vegan menu that relies heavily on grilled or sautéed veggies as the bulk of the plates. I had the Sautéed Veggies on Jasmine rice and the Black Bean & Corn Salsa. Both were absolutely delicious, even though they were quite simple. S&P Oyster Bar has a clean atmosphere with a beautiful view of the river and drawbridge with an equally as beautiful patio/garden space. A great spot for lunch or an evening dinner

S&P has always been accommodating to vegans but has recently added a vegan menu which offers a number of vegan dishes including a delicious polenta and an incredible Tri Colored Quinoa Farro and vegetable bowl.
