Lovely location with great selection of vegan options - Edit
Overall great experience at southside!
Read moreThere were plenty of vegan options which were all delicious, the leafy backdrop makes for a great outdoorsy atmosphere and the staff were all great and gave good recommendations.
Quite expensive but the portions of the mains are quite generous so we all left very full 😊

Good selection - Edit
We went with really high expectations that it might be one of those places that is a 5 star even though it is not fully vegan. The food was still good but not outstanding. Parts were delicious… in fact the best dish was not clearly marked as vegan but our waiter recommended it and it was amazing (soup dumplings). Beautiful location even though it is right under a rail line.

Vegan banquet option was amazing - Edit
Went here for a Christmas dinner with my work. The setting is super cool, it’s tucked away underneath the railway bridge in South Brisbane. The bar and restaurant have been completely transformed into an urban oasis with tons of lush greenery. Dining here felt like we were on holiday at a luxe hotel in Thailand or something (the closest I’ll get to an overseas holiday in a long time 🙃😭)
Read moreI had already messaged Southside when my work were scoping out a venue, and they emailed me a dietary menu that labelled the vegan options (as well as gluten free, pescatarian, etc). The staff on the night were extremely accommodating and helpful too, our group of 6 ordered the banquet. It’s share plates, and while the others shared the meat or fish dishes, for each course I had my own separate portion with a vegan version. The staff explained every dish they brought out and were very knowledgable.
The food was overall delicious, with lots of interesting flavours and textures. The banquet included: salt & pepper tofu, pumpkin with black bean sauce and native plum, shiitake mushroom dumplings, cucumber salad, BBQ cabbage, silken tofu with exotic mushrooms, and fried rice. It was an obscene amount of food, I definitely peaked too early and was almost full by the entrees. We were able to take away the leftovers though and had it for lunch the next day.
This was a really nice experience, it’s expensive so not somewhere I would normally go. But a great spot for a special occasion.
Pros: lush setting in the heart of South Brissy🌿🌴🍃, interesting vegan dishes w quality ingredients, friendly, knowledgable staff
Cons: expensive
