Good food

Nice menu, all vegan/plant-based. I chose the Soul Burger, $20, served on a toasted spelt bun, with mayo and cheez, maybe a bit heavy on the prepared mustard, but it’s a tasty and satisfying burger. This is not fast food; don’t be in a hurry.
WiFi available. Bathroom is at the back of the organic food store next door, Eastfield Natural Foods.
Also sells local and handmade goods (e.g., bath salts)

Pros: all vegan

Cons: not the fastest service

Comfort food

Tried the jacket potato and the Reuben sandwich. Both had a homely feel to them and tasted great (although nothing like a Reuben). Not huge serving sizes, so perfect for lunch. Also bought a cupcake which was unfortunately fridge cold, the sponge was dry and there was an overload of dense, stiff, too-buttery icing. Recommend sticking to savoury dishes.

Increasing

Great to have a vegan cafe in the area, and Soulpod has a lot of potential to deliver food of higher quality than most. My impressions on my first visit were that some dishes need a bit more thought and more ingredients (Udon bowl is a good example), the prices are a tad high, the menu could be larger and the drinks need serious work and are too small/too pricey. We had an iced chocolate that was bland and an ice tea that tasted very artificial.

Soulful Tapas

We enjoyed a special Tapas Night at SoulPods. It seems to be a fairly regular event and was fully booked out.

For $65 we could choose 5 dishes of tapas, this included soup, salads, celeriac, smoked dishes and of note - halloumi served with lemon. There were 10 choices, so we ordered everything between us. I've uploaded some photos, so please drool over those.

Good drink choices, including mulled wine, which I enjoyed on the cold, rainy night in Melbourne.

Dessert: couldn't go past the salted chocolate tart. And it was dreamy. Smooth filling, rich and indulgent.

Service was perfect - attentive, smiling and not intrusive.

Pros: All plant based, Freindly service, Innovative food

great noms

Pleasant friendly staff for this busy little cafe. I loved my udon bowl with a subtle peanut sauce. Coffee was also excellent.
It was a bonus to have the organic grocery next door with lots of vegan and vegitarian goods 😁

Pie Divine

Mushroom pie was a winner.
Curry of the day was the most satisfying meal I ate all week.
