The good stuff was REALLY good - Edit
I got a platter and some of these items were REALLY good (mac n cheese, cauliflower steak) while others left a bit to be desired (dirty rice, collard greens). Limited seating inside and out. Kiosk ordering process was a little confusing, but staff was nice.

Mac and cheese was incredible - Edit
Big portions, boudin balls and collared greens were awesome, but I’d come here daily for the Mac and cheese if I could.

Hearty food - Edit
Good big portions, very hearty. However just a bit off the mark - nacho cheese was too runny. Jambalaya was a bit too plain.

Not good, sadly - Edit
We really wanted to love this place. All-vegan soul food restaurant? Black-owned? In the Third Ward? Sign us up!
Read moreBut, alas, it kinda sucked. The place looks dirty (as soon as we arrived, my wife said she knew it was gonna be bad), the wait time to order was incredibly long even though there was nobody in front of us, the food was entirely too expensive, and they were sold out of several items.
Without question, the Supreme Burger was the highlight of the menu, and the nachos and jambalaya were OK, but everything else was pretty bad. The collard greens were bland, the mac and cheese was gross, and the dirty rice was “off” and had to be thrown away.
With so many great vegan options in Houston, I can’t imagine returning.

Disappointed - Edit
Kitchen looked dingy and dirty. Prices did not fit the quality of food! Could taste the old grease and the cook looked like he was high. Cashier was distant in customer interaction by texting on her phone in between our ordering.

Lives up to its name! - Edit
Friendly staff and great customer service. Inside seating is available. This food is made with love and it’s evident when speaking to the owner who prides himself on being knowledgeable about veggies nutritional values to the body. I don’t care for gumbo or okra but I tasted his vegan version and OMG! It tasted like a big bowl of comfort food on a cold rainy day! It was delish as were the nachos. The “pot liquor” in the collard greens could heal a Nation of people since it had the right amount of spicy kick to it while the collard greens were well seasoned and soft. I also tried a delightfully flavorful smoothie, thanks Chef! The fresh strawberry lemonade had moringa infused but you couldn’t taste it. I will be ordering my copy of the chef/owners cook book! This is certainly a must visit place when in Houston!

Meh - Edit
I went there and got the platter, the mixed berry smoothie, and the Alfredo. The Alfredo was the best thing I got there. The platter however was WAY too salty. The smoothie was good, but it was in a small cup and it was $10.

BAD EXPERIENCE - Edit
The food was mediocre at best. Wait was long, kitchen looked dirty and cashier acted like she was there for tips and nothing else! Not to mention the old grease taste that gave me the bubble guts! It's a big NO for me dawg!!

Worth A Try - Edit
This place is always packed which is a good sign, only drawback is the menu is frequently sold out. It’s a menu right by the register which I wish they would update. After asking for several different things I ended up asking what they did have. The price is also really high. Ended up spending about $40 for poboy, fries, and 2 drinks.

I really wanted to love it, but just not for me - Edit
The food is ok. The service was good. Friendly staff that were happy to make recommendations. I had Mac ‘n cheese, a po boy and lemonade. Nothing was amazing. The po boy didn’t have as much mushroom filling as I expected and it ended up as mostly bread. The $9 lemonade wasn’t anything memorable. It’s alkaline but I have no idea what that actually means. Be mindful of the 4% non cash adjustment that is added to your total. Overall I didn’t have anything that would make me want to go back.

Disappointed - Edit
Was excited to try this place but it did deliver on the soul food part. The macaroni, dirty rice, and greens did not have much flavor at all. Neither did the boudin balls. I did enjoy the friend cauliflower steak.

Salty, Dry & Overpriced - Edit
Everything was severely over seasoned. The jambalaya was over powered with liquid smoke and dry rice, the boudin balls had a weird aftertaste which mimics frozen foods, the greens were from a can, and the fries tasted like a salt lick. Customer service is non existent and the seating area is closed. This restaurant seems to have stopped trying and are living off their accolades from previous years. I highly doubt we’ll try them again.

Not good - Edit
Let me first say I would have given them a one star but the system would not let me. I really wanted to love this place but I couldn’t when we went to put in a order the background of stations in the kitchen there were open vents up high and it wasn’t tidy. Still wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt we ordered around $100 worth of food. The burgers were beyond burgers nothing special but the sides were good at all macaroni with barely any cheese. Greens had sugar or something that made them sweet the only that was great was the juice . Maybe I came on the wrong day but I wouldn’t eat there again.

This place was amazing. The owner even came out and walked through exactly what was in the items. He was very knowledgeable and even gave me resources to purchase his cookbook. I would highly recommend this place if you’ll be in Houston.

Good! - Edit
This is very soul food vegan/ processed vegan but it is very good! And they were so nice . I got there kinda late and they were out of a lot of things like their mushrooms, so I feel like if I tried their sold out dishes I would have been obsessed!

Tried to like it - Edit
I have tried this placed twice, the first time all they had available was a Cajun burger or salad, I went for the burger and it was kinda crunchy because it was over cooked, the sauce has a good flavor but the dryness of the patty made it hard to enjoy.
Read moreThought I’d give em another go so the second time, I order a mushroom Poboy that was so bland that I couldn’t even get to half of it and the boudin balls, one of the two orders of boudin balls was missing from my order and the rice was hard. Don’t think I’ll be trying them again.
Pros: On delivery apps , Different option
Cons: Lots of things sold out , Lacks flavor , Overcooked/ uncooked food

Walked in and it smelt like home! (south Louisiana) Ladies who took my order were so nice! And the food was delicious, nice large portions, we kept on eating even after we were full. Definitely going again next time we are in town.
