Decent Option for Sumner

If you live in the area and are looking for a cozy place to grab drinks with friends, Sorci’s will do the trick and you won’t leave hungry! Their bruschetta is vegan as-is, though be warned that the plate comes with a ball of butter placed on the side (next to a small pile of salt) I definitely recommend using the salt to season the tomatoes, otherwise the flavor is a bit flat. There is also a baked avocado appetizer that you can veganize by ordering without cheese, but it’s not nearly as tasty as the bruschetta.

For entrees there is a “build your own pasta” option. Marinara and spaghetti/penne are vegan. Add-ons include olives, artichoke hearts, and sun dried tomatoes. There are also a couple salads that can be made vegan with some modification.

This place actually does decent cocktails, so if you imbibe, you should be pleased with what the bar turns out.

Not a destination, per se…

….but is perfectly fine if you find yourself there as part of a group or are local to the area and don’t want to travel far for a decent bite to eat!

There are a couple salads on the menu that are either vegan or can easily be made so. They have a “build your own pasta” menu where you can gussy up an otherwise plain order of spaghetti marinara with olives, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, etc. For appetizers they have a tasty bruschetta that’s naturally vegan (ask for the ball of butter that comes on the side to be left off the serving platter. A strange addition that speaks to the area this restaurant is located!). There is also a baked avocado appetizer that you can veganize by ordering without cheese, though I personally would stick to the bruschetta!

I love this spot as a place to go to have drinks and catch up with friends. If I get to feeling nibbly at some point, I know there will be something perfectly decent available to fill me up. If you approach this place with that mindset, you shouldn’t be disappointed!

Pros: Good quality food, Good cocktails and wine selection, Large portions

Cons: Young servers (who don’t always get things right), Small space—can feel crowded quickly

Salad only

I've asked this restaurant what they have vegan, reply was salad only. I would not call this vegan friendly!

Excellent Neighborhood Restaurant.

I have eaten at Sorci's a number of times over the past few years and always enjoyed it. The owners are very serious about establishing a fine eating place and try innovative ideas to enhance the dining experience. For instance, you can look through a cookbooks from their collections while you eat. The experience can be uneven. Owners are very knowledgeable about the food, but the wait staff who are sometimes local high school kids can be completely lost if you ask a question. They are great when they are open, but during the summer of 2012 I was disappointed a few times to arrive hoping for lunch or evening meal only to find them 'closed due to the heat'. That was particularly embarrassing when bringing out of town guests. Similary I've arrived hoping for dinner and found that they are serving a party and closed to the general public. Pricing is moderate. I haven't had a bad meal.

Pros: Well though out offerings, Food is fresh, tasty, Intimate, welcoming

Cons: Can be closed without notice, Some wait staff don't know the food
