great experience every time - Edit
I loved Soma Kafe so much the first time, I had to go back there again and again. It’s not just great food with lots of vegan options that makes me want to go back but also the atmosphere. They have beanbag cushions on the floor. You sit there, do some work on your computer (connection is good) and talk to the owner, Johnny, who is incredibly friendly.

Not tasty - Edit
Expensive for what is it. Food was not tasty. It took them 45min to bring a smoothie bowl and we were the only clients in the whole restaurant.

Average pizzas, great atmosphere! - Edit
Our group had three different pizzas, all were OK but definitely nothing spectacular. I had the Mediterranean pizza and I felt it really lacked flavour and crunch (I requested an extra crispy pizza but sadly that wasn’t delivered).

The restaurant setting was beautiful, clean and inviting but unfortunately the food really let them down.

Leuk, netjes. Goed sprekend engels personeel. En zeer lekker eten in een fijne rustige tuin achtige setting. Fijne rustige muziek. De cashewnoten kaas erg lekker op de vegan pizza! ♡

A decent respite from the heat of downtown, but nothing more. - Edit
At the extreme end of what I had pictured the western scene in Bali to be... a little bit much for my tastes. I had a smoothie and a coconut to help endure the special hell that is the downtown strip of shops and then headed on my way.

Best raw vegan desserts in Ubud - Edit
If you are in Ubud and into raw vegan, you have to get there and order the raw vegan desserts. They are heaven. I especially love the chocolate fudge pie with lemon frosting.

lots of vegan choices - Edit
Location is nice, menu is huge and has clearly marked what is vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan. Staff was friendly. The food was fresh, but not the very best in flavor. We had a Thai Curry and the Ruby Moon. The Curry was missing a bit of flavor. The mashed beetroot in the Ruby Moon was terrible, the Tempeh was nice. The hummus was okay, but the portion was tiny.

Not satisfying - Edit
We've only been there once for dinner and won't come back again. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all. We've tried the vegetarian pizza and the curry. Both weren't very tasty and the pizza was nearly cold as it arrived. We've also tried the dessert. The Crepes was cold too. One good thing about it is, that you'll have free WiFi. We can't recommend this place.

Menu is 90% vegan. 2 dishes with fish. Great choice and beautiful atmosphere! - Edit
Nothing we didn’t like. Beautiful atmosphere. “Has vegan options” doesn’t do it justice: vegan and raw vegan are most of the dishes. We loved it.

Peaceful spot to break from the hustle and bustle of Ubud - Edit
We came here for an early lunch and I really liked the cafe. It's tucked away from the street with lots of greenery and peaceful in comparison to the busy streets. The kids ordered the vegan crepes and my husband ordered the roasted veggies with rice and cashew cheese. I thought my dish was simple but tasty. Service was quick and prices were reasonable. If we were to go back, I think I would double check that everything was in fact vegan. After ordering I noticed some items on the menu were labelled vegan but clearly had animal product (goat cheese).

Pretty good - Edit
Have been here twice so far in my stay and the food is good..when you get vegan food, ordered the pesto pasta and it came out with cheese on it, I tried to explain that in the menu it was vegan, the waitress brought over the menu and sure enough despite the vegan symbol listed beside the vegan pasta there was Parmesan which I stupidly thought was plant based. The staff have little understand as to what vegan is they insisted the dish with Parmesan on it was vegan but asked to replace the Parmesan with feta. Had the quinoa bowl and a juice the other morning both of which were good so just double check the menu when you order!!

Cool place, bad food. - Edit
I actually hate to give bad rep to places serving vegan food. But in 2018 its becoming so common, and especially in Bali that you deserve to hear the truth.
Read moreI ordered soup, my GF a wrap with a mint infused water as well as a beer for me.
I got the soup. 10 min later my GF got the wrap. Now my soup was cold. Wanted to take a sip of my beer, nope, not there yet. Oh, mint infused water! Oh, beer! Oh, cold soup. Oh, tasteless wrap AND tasteless soup. If it had at least tasted good the wait wouldn't be that bad.
The place is cool and all that, but whats the point if the food is tasteless and they have no idea how to run a restaurant. And for that price compared to all the other places; jeez, never again!
Pros: Nice Atmosphere
Cons: Tasteless Food, Long Waits, No system for what comes out of the kitchen

small portion, long wait - Edit
First of all we had to wait more that one hour to get our food, the portions are quite small and the taste was nothing special. I got the raw zucchini noodle and they were ok and my partner had the quinoa plate that was really nothing special and really small portion. Really pricey for what you get, I would not come back.

Recommandé pour les desserts! - Edit

Ask for salt 👌 - Edit
Loads of vegan options, both raw and cooked. I found the flavour a little lacking though, so asked for salt part way through the meal which helped. If you want tonnes of options this is a good place to go!

menu items labeled incorrectly; but good vegan pizza - Edit
Labeling on menu includes symbol for raw vegan, but server told me that most include honey. When I asked which items didn't include honey, server wasn't sure. This was frustrating and made me feel uneasy about ordering anything. I later got a takeout vegan cashew cheese pizza that was pretty good...so, on the fence.

Lovely food - Edit
It's been 5 years since I last visited Ubud and I loved Soma back then. I was glad to find them still operating and in bigger and more garden-like premises. The surroundings are beautiful. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and lots of choices. Service was patchy, we often had to chase up staff even though not busy. And they could be more attentive to all the foliage that falls on the tables and chairs. Just small details that add to the ambience.

Trendy place, plentiful choices. - Edit
Visited May 2013. Every evening this place had young, cool people spilling out of the steps.. I kept wondering what the buzz was. So we dropped in one night for a hot chocolate & light bite. The Gado-Gado spring rolls were fresh & delish. The coconut mylk hot chocolate, sorry to say, was awful (to my tastebuds at least) and had that sour young coconut flavour trying to mix with chocolate. The menu was huge & I would have liked to have tried more. The service was kind, wifi works well. The atmosphere is trendy, it's a small place & was filled with young & hip looking new agers, one guy was lounging with his shirt off. Still, I'd go back to try more of their raw selection.

Best health food in Ubud - Edit
This little restaurant was my favourite one in Ubud in terms of raw, healthy food. Their juices were not always tasty, but very freshly made and I could tell full of healthy, green ingredients. JUST NEXT TIME PLEASE DO NOT PUT A METAL SPOON INTO MY JUICE!!! THANKS! I liked their protein power soup and apparently some other customers told me their raw pad thai is supposed to be delicious, but I had no time to try that myself :-( A bit disappointing was the "Mochalicious Cake" which looked different from the sample in the fridge and it was deep frozen (as a previous reviewer already mentioned), so maybe order this first and have it at the end before you go. The portions are rather small, so you will certainly be able to finish it :-) The staff is very friendly and they have free Wifi.
