Traditional Trinidadian/Caribbean cuisine with many vegan options

This is the real deal for people craving Caribbean food in the area, and probably the only Eastern Caribbean restaurant in Ohio. There’s veggie roti, doubles (amazing), jerk tofu (decent but nothing special), veggie rolls (huge version of friend Chinese rolls), fried rice, plantains etc.

The West Social food hall it’s in is a nice hangout too, with bar and coffee shop to go with the food.

Pros: Traditional vegan dishes like roti and doubles, Nice environment food-hall environment

Cons: Serves meat, but vegan menu has expanded, Moderately pricey, but large portions

Many options, BUT..

Solid 2.5 out of 5 stars.😒I was excited to try Soca, seeing that they offered so many vegan options on the menu. But I must say I was a little let down! While I appreciated having so many options, the flavor of the food was a miss for me. Also my DoorDash delivery order had a weird odor (??) to the package, which was a little unsettling.

I tried a bunch of stuff - the vegan jerk tofu (served with a side of cabbage and fried rice), the vegan egg rolls, cassava fries and fried ripe plantains. The jerk tofu was a generous serving but I found the jerk flavor not to my liking. The vegan egg rolls were okay but very oily. Same with the fried plantains. My favorite thing I ordered ended up being the cassava fries.

If I ever order from here again, I’d try the ‘double’ with the curry chickpeas next time. Should be 2.5 stars but I give them 3 for offering so many vegan items on the menu.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: Odd odor from my DoorDash package 😨
