Good selection and a fun atmosphere - Edit
SNUG was more trendy than I would have expected and had a great vibe which would explain why it was packed to the rafters when we went. The two of us were initially seated at a tiny table but the staff kindly moved us to a bigger one when it was clear we were ordering quite a bit of food.
Read moreThe yum:
- Tofu and seaweed salad
- Vege tempura
- Chili cauliflower (though the sauce is exceedingly salty so needs some rice with it)
- Mulled wine (tasted best when hot)
The meh:
- Mushroom tempura (regular button mushrooms are really not a great option for Asian dishes, especially tempura... serving was generous though)
- Spinach and garlic dumplings (was the special that night - was fine but nothing to write home about)
With drinks it came to about $50pp, so not cheap by any means but we enjoyed the food and drink and went home quite full. Worth checking out.

A must visit in New Plymouth - Edit
This was our second visit - the menu had been updated since we were last there and there were a few less vegan options, but still a good variety and all delicious. The mixed vegetable tempura is always excellent, but our surprise favourite of the night was the grilled cabbage - super flavourful!

Cons: Could be more options

Delicious and affordable - Edit
Recommend the chilli cauliflower. Was so relieved to have so many options for us and was great to have as share bowels. Ordered about 2 options each with rice and shared them. Will be back there when in New Plymouth again. Highly recommend for vegans!

Cons: Only found in New Plymouth, I live 7 hours away from Snug, Too far to drive to eat there regularly

Real vegan dinner options - Edit
Snug has a nice relaxed atmosphere and a simple sharing menu with a good number of vegan options.
Read moreThe food was good, I think we ordered all the vegan choices, the staff were friendly and happy to support vegans.
Overall a great experience in a town that is otherwise lacking good vegan dinner choices.
It classifies itself as a cocktail lounge, but has additional atrium seating that's more like a restaurant, and certainly felt more like a restaurant when we were there.

Pros: Clearly labelled vegan choices, Nice food, Friendly staff
Cons: Menu could be larger
