On the fence. - Edit
I've been a couple of times but not overly impressed as everything seems quite overly seasoned, high in fodmaps, not frrsh/customisable. Over priced.
Read morePros: All vegan. Great bar selection.
Cons: Expensive. Not fodmap friendly. Overly seasoned.

Best scrambled eggs ever - Edit
Came in here randomly on our walk through fitzroy. Ordered the scrambled eggs and salad both of which were devine. The eggs were so creamy and silky even my non vegan boyfriend was suprised. Will return to explore the rest of the menu.

Amazing food!! - Edit
I had dinner and drinks and it was all delicious! We shared the Parma potatoe, (a crumbled baked potatoe with a cheese filling $16) bolognese and beans, (small dish covered in Parmesan and served with garlic focaccia) and pasta with meatballs topped with ricotta and a vodka tomato sauce. It was all amazing!! The pasta sauce and ricotta were so good.
Read moreFor dessert i had a hot chocolate affogato ($12) and shared a ‘mount Vesuvius’ which was their version of a bomb Alaska($16). It had a chocolate base, ice cream and covered in Meringue which is burnt at your table.
Friendly service though there was a bit of a wait for food as they were trying a new menu for the first time that night. definitely book a table!!! We booked for 6 and when shown to our table they told us we had until 7:30. At 6:15 they were at capacity.
It was an expensive night though we did order a lot and enjoyed it all. Will definitely be back when in Melbourne.
Pros: good service, delicious food
Cons: expensive

Tasty with Lots of Options but not Very Warm - Edit
I found this place to tick all the boxes in terms of having a good variety on the menu but it didn’t have an overly friendly or accommodating feel. Staff weren’t rude as such but I didn’t feel they were warm or inviting. Food was tasty but not mind-blowing and given the location it was fairly expensive. I would probably give it another go but I’m not going to race there again in a hurry.

good but maybe overrated - Edit
i do like this place but it's a bit... fancy or something for me. have always loved the food every time i've been but i am not sure about the atmosphere. i always feel underdressed or maybe not cool enough. this place is for cool vegans i don't think i'm one of them lol.

Creative and tasty food - Edit
Was here on a Friday night with non-veg colleagues and, hands-down, we all loved the food. Many of their dishes are designed for sharing and we ordered the Cheese Gratin, Meatballs, Gnocci, Caesar Salad, and Mini Pizzas. A common theme across dishes appears to be the use of ample cheese, in particular, a vegan Parmesan. Drinks were great and, in the end, the meal wasn’t horribly expensive (I’ve no idea if my colleagues promptly went for fast food afterwards but I was stuffed!). You’ll need a reservation at peak times. We were squeezed in at the bar and that worked well.

Don't miss it - Edit
Dinner at Smith & Daughters was one of the highlights of our stint in Melbourne. We had actually received a dinner there as a wedding gift :)
Read moreMy husband and I loved everything about it: The location, the decor - and most of all, the food. We shared a plate of chips (because we love chips), Brussels sprouts the tortilla and something very cheesy and amazing that I don't remember the name of.
The portions were very generous and we took leftovers home with us for a late-night snack.
Pros: Scrumptious food, trendy decor, attentive staff, well-sized portions

OUTSTANDING - Edit
Such a must visit restaurant. The food is innovative and constantly evolving. The drinks menu is fantastic and service is highly attentive. The prices are reasonable considering the quality and attention to detail of every dish. Overall I would high recommend.

Overrated - Edit
I think this place is overrated, I've visited several times but I don't find the food that delicious. I love the restaurant ambiance, staff are friendly & good service. However, I'd visit other vegan restaurants located nearby instead if I'd choose.

Fantastic delicious place! - Edit
I totally fell in live with this place! I went for dinner and already had a hard time deciding what to eat, because the menu sounds so delicious and in fact everything we ate was so good. The sweet highlight was definitely the chocolate tart! Absolutely worth visiting!

Repeat customer! - Edit
We were only in Melbourne for 2 nights but we stopped here for breakfast having previously eaten takeout from Smith and Deli....ended up having dinner here too as we loved it so much! Lovely chilled and friendly space, innovative menu and every dish a winner. Book ahead if you want a private table but communal dining can be a lot of fun too. Lots of Smith and Daughters merchandise on sale too from recipe books to tote bags and t shirts. Extensive bar menu for the drinkers amongst us!

very hip, great buzz, all vegan - Edit
This is the tattoo, hip, cool cocktails end of veganism. Good and interesting Latin American food, good bar, everything vegan. Very cool vibe. If this is what you are after (and i am) then I highly recommend. I ate here alone on a work trip and it's cool to sit at bar alone and eat.

I'll make this short and sweet - S&D is a must do in Melbourne, their chef Shannon is a genius and her food is not to be missed. If I could give higher than 5 stars I would.

Outstanding brunch! - Edit
Everything is vegan... We had the 'divorced eggs', doughnuts and gazpacho all of which were incredibly delicious. The Spanish pressed sanwich was good but not as impressive as the other items. We also had the corn flan with burnt jalapeño toffee and candied jalapeño popcorn which was incredible. The layer of toffee on top of the flan cracked delightfully and the jalapeño flavour was subtle (so I could happily eat it as a person who isn't super tough when it comes to spicy food).

Expensive, few tables but food was fairly nice - Edit
Make sure you book a table and be prepared for a cramped restaurant and expensive food. But...
Read moreThe food was really nice and our waitress was quite helpful with suggestions on what (and how) to order the food. The menu is a little confusing... or, at least, it was when we went which was a while ago now.
I particularly remember the donuts we had for dessert and a salad which had a house-made feta. All the food was delicious. Was it worth the high price? No. For that price I expect higher quality food and also a nicer restaurant itself. In my opinion, you can't charge someone an expensive meal and then seat them on a stool. I get that it's very "hipster" but it's also uncomfortable and cheap.
But, again, the food WAS nice. Maybe not fantastic but it was all vegan. So swings and roundabouts.
Pros: Fairly nice food, All vegan
