Food is good but not great, certainly not on the level of the price tag. Pretentious and elitist atmosphere, many may find this off putting, the same applies to the cafe/shop next door.

Superb dining experience! We had the degustation- they said it was 4 courses but there were about 3 plates per course with one plate to share for dessert between 2 people. Really impressed with the food and ambience and service, such a wonderful dining experience. It was $95 per head. Considering they make their own cheeses and creams and the quality of the food i believe it was worth the price. We were so full too and struggled to fit in the dessert even though the tiramisu was delicious. The wine was also very nice and the wait staff were very attentative and made is feel very welcome.

Their menu changes every so often (to a new cuisine) but the food is always the best - vegan or not - I’ve tried. It’s the perfect place to bring friend or family who are not vegan as they are always gobsmacked at how delicious everything is.

We went here prior to covid. Cute corner shop with fun ambiance! Community seating at some tables. We ordered the pasta with meatballs and the tiramisu. The pasta sauce and noodles were tasty, but we could have done without the meatballs. The texture was a bit soft and we didn't love the flavor. The tiramisu was good! We'd go back to try something different.

Read moreThe food is inventive, interesting and a real showcase of plant-based goodness. While I love mock meat, I'd definitely recommend tucking into the vegetable dishes, as they are unlike what you get anywhere else.
The meals at home they did during lockdown were inspired and a real joy to cook and eat.
I don't know why people are upset in some of the reviews that Shannon Martinez isn't vegan. She has never claimed to be. She showcases and celebrates plant-based food across both her 'Smith &' businesses and provides so many opportunities to learn about vegan food through her Instagram. She's one of the biggest supporters of the community and her venue is all vegan, why should we care if she is?

Known as the home of the Queen of Vegan food herself, Shannon's menu is just divine. The Ragu and Vodka Meatballs have been the stand out dishes that I have tried but everything has been fantastic! Its a busy spot so make sure you book a table, the staff are super friendly and the vibe is just right for that quirky alternative feel mashed together with an fancy restaurant. I hadn’t been to Smith and Daughters for three years, before they changed the menu to Italian, so I was a little worried when I read reviews about small portions and rude service. Well my partner and I just had the most amazing time! Our server was lovely and super attentive. We accidentally over ordered, but they were lovely and packed us a takeaway box with a thank you note and a love heart scribbled on the box. I had the most beautiful sparking red wine. We got the antipasti plate which was incredible, so delicious! The meatballs, we both took one bite and just fell in love and couldn’t talk to each other for a minute while we appreciated how good it was haha. We also had the risotto which was delicious. The garlic bread was a little plain and underdone, but it didn’t bother us because everything else was so amazing! We make crunchy garlic bread at home with a lot of extra garlic, so that’s our personal taste! We were sooo full and happy! Yes, it is a bit expensive, but expect that if you’re going to Smith and Daughter’s. It’s a really lovely night out and exceptional food. Highly recommend!

I used to love this place. The food was ridiculously good. I’d walk away with the biggest smile and my mouth was bursting with flavour...then they went Italian and it all changed. The portions were tiny and not worth the high end prices. The taste was good, but not amazing like before. The last time I went I left feeling disappointed and hungry. I won’t go back unless they revert or improve on their current offerings.
